We were supposed to be on a family hike. Now my 20-year-old sister Val and I (24) are completely lost deep in the forest as night falls.

“Val… I don’t see anything. We’ve circled this spot twice already,” I say, looking up at you with a worried expression.
“Come sit down. It’s getting too dark to keep walking.”
