unexpected trip & promotion…..

I’m married, mid-level corporate guy, average life, routine marriage… until my new boss walked into my life. She was confident, older than me, always dressed perfectly, and had this habit of standing way too close while discussing work.

After months of late-night presentations and private meetings, she selected me for an outstation office trip. Everyone joked that I was her “favorite employee.” Maybe they weren’t wrong.

The hotel messed up our booking during check-in. Only one room left.

One bed.

She laughed it off casually while I stood there awkwardly pretending to be professional.

The room had one of those modern glass bathrooms. Transparent enough to see silhouettes, steam, movement… everything. She went in first after dinner, and I tried focusing on my laptop while hearing the shower running behind the glass.

Then her shadow appeared.

Wet hair. Bare skin blurred through steam. Slow movements knowing fully I could see.

She stepped out wrapped in nothing but a towel and asked softly,
“Still working? Or finally relaxing?”

That night the promotion stopped feeling like it was about work anymore.
To be continued….

Our recent goa trip experience

Me and my wife went to Goa last year… and honestly, it changed something between us.

We come from a very conservative orthodox family in Rajasthan. Growing up, even holding hands in public felt “too much.” Our marriage was arranged, and while we cared for each other deeply, there was always this invisible wall of shyness between us.

But Goa felt different.

The first evening, we were sitting near the beach at Baga, watching foreigners dance freely, couples laughing openly, girls wearing clothes my wife would never even imagine wearing back home. I noticed her quietly observing everything — curious, nervous, but strangely excited.

That night in the hotel balcony, with the sea breeze and soft music from nearby cafés, she asked me something unexpected:

“Do you think people judge less here… or they just live more?”

I still remember that line.

The next day, she surprised me by wearing a sleeveless dress she had secretly packed but never planned to wear. When she walked out of the washroom, she looked both confident and terrified. She kept asking, “Does it look okay?” while hiding behind her hair.

Honestly… I couldn’t stop staring.

For the first time since our marriage, she wasn’t behaving like someone’s daughter-in-law. She was just… a woman enjoying herself.

We rented a scooter, drove through narrow Goan roads, got caught in sudden rain, and ended up drenched near a quiet beach. She laughed loudly without caring who was watching. At one point, she held my waist tighter than usual while sitting behind me, resting her head on my shoulder.

Such a small thing… but for us, it felt intimate.

That night, after a little wine — our first time trying alcohol together — she became unexpectedly honest. She admitted she had always wanted freedom, romance, and adventure, but was scared of being judged her whole life.

Goa didn’t just give us a vacation.

It gave us a version of ourselves we had never met before.
