That was one of the last conversations we had. It was a few months ago, and it was how our two year relationship came to an end. You were ready to settle down and start preparing for a family while I was still wanting to party into the late hours of the night. You were working towards a promotion at work while I was rolling out of bed at noon, perfectly content with my job as a bar tender. The love was still there. The chemistry was definitely still there, but in order to get what we each wanted out of life, we had to let each other go.
Everybody has one of those exes who they can't stop thinking about, though. And for you, that ex was me.
For a lack of better words, our sex life was electric. It's probably what kept as together for as long as we were. Whether you wanted to be a spoiled pillow princess or treated like a slut while I fucked you with a strap, I was always there to make sure you went to bed satisfied. Nobody knew your body as well as me, and nothing made you realize that fact quite as much as this breakup.
Nighttime was the worst. Especially after stressful days at work where you'd go to bed tense and frustrated. Anytime you sought out relief your mind would wander to me, which would make you groan and rollover, giving up and eventually falling asleep.
One particularly desperate night, you reached for your phone and dialed my number, knowing I'd still be awake.
I was laying on the couch watching tv when your name popped up on my screen and answered on the second ring.
