We vet our tying partners, but do you vet your rope spaces?

Much as no two people practice kink in exactly the same way – we all come into it with our own communication style, experience level, likes and limits – so no two kink spaces are exactly alike. From BDSM dungeons and studios specialized in kinky sessions to rope dojos, education-focused spaces, and even events hosted in private homes, kink spaces vary widely – and so do their offerings and quality. Similarly then, just as we vet potential play partners to assess their intention, skills and make sure we’re on the same wavelength before we play, shouldn’t we be vetting the places where we play too?

Free Shibari Study Stream Starting at 3pm Eastern/19:00 UTC: Performance with MieNeko & Nikoletta Ginger

Join us here. No membership required. Shibari Study members get access to the replay after the stream.

Class type: Performance
Level: Open
Props: Optional note-taking tools

This performance between MieNeko and Nikoletta Ginger offers insight into the special dynamic of mutual trust they have developed over seven years of tying together, and into the D/s dynamic they share in rope.

Nikoletta has profoundly influenced MieNeko’s tying style through her presence, her feedback, and her willingness to dive into intense, dark mindsets throughout those years. Their dynamic is embodied in the duality of movement and restrictiveness, of softness and force. They never plan what they want to do; instead, it is always a spontaneous going with the flow, experimenting with the emotions they bring into the session on that specific occasion.

This tying session is suitable for all levels to watch and enjoy, and is intended to inspire, not to be followed along. Do not attempt to recreate elements of this performance unless you have the requisite skill set.

Free Shibari Study Stream Starting at 2pm Eastern/18:00 UTC: Trampling, Compression & Rope by Petite Pretzel

Join us here. No membership required. Shibari Study members get access to the replay after the stream.

Class type: Demonstration & discussion

Level: Intermediate

Props: Rope kit, safety shears, comfortable clothing, optional note-taking tools

This class by Petite Pretzel will explore the potential for combining rope bondage and trampling in BDSM play. Some rope bottoms enjoy the idea of and/or the sensation of being stepped on, squashed or otherwise squeezed and this is your chance to learn how to plan a rope scene with this in mind. In the course of the class, Petite Pretzel will demonstrate floor work and partials suitable for the rigger to apply force with their feet, knees, elbows and other parts of the body.

Please wear clothes that you are comfortable in moving around in. While the class will discuss the use of high-heeled shoes, boots and other footwear in trampling, all hands-on (or feet-on) elements will be practiced barefoot or in socks.

This class is appropriate for practitioners with some experience and fairly confident rope handling as you will be focused on adding extra spice to your rope practice and not on tying techniques and skills.

Low down and dirty

In this class, Switchmeister and Lil break down the concepts of pervyness, eroticism, shame, humiliation and how they incorporate them into tying sessions.

This workshop isn’t about teaching specific ties or harnesses but more about providing you tools to make things more pervy. Because, as they say, sometimes how you reach the “pervy” aspects of rope can be considered equally as important as the end goal.

This class is recommended for intermediate levels and practitioners who already have some experience with upline management and partial suspensions.
