Tired of Empty Promises in Virtual Sugar Relationships

I've been in the virtual sugar relationship space for quite a long time, and I've realized one thing very clearly: I prefer virtual arrangements.

The reason is simple. Whether I ever choose to meet someone in real life is entirely my decision. No one else has the right to decide how much I should trust someone or what level of safety is acceptable for me. That is my boundary to set. No random person, no Reddit comment, and no online platform gets to make that decision for me.

I'm talking only about virtual sugar relationships here. So there's no point commenting that "it's not a real sugar relationship unless you meet in person." If someone comments that, I'll simply report and block them.

Now, let me share some of my experiences.

Every single time, it starts the same way. They make big promises: "I'm here for the long term," "I'm different from everyone else," "I value communication," "I'm honest."

On my side, I've always been completely genuine. I don't just offer NSFW content or sexting. I invest my time, I listen, I provide emotional support, and I make myself emotionally available. I put real effort into the relationship.

Yet after one or two months, the story is always the same. Suddenly someone remembers how much he loves his wife. Someone else gets caught by his wife. And in my most recent experience, the entire relationship turned out to be based on false promises and deception.

These experiences have made me realize that many people are not who they claim to be. That's why I believe anyone who is lonely, vulnerable, or going through a financial crisis should be extremely careful before trusting someone online.

Another pattern I've noticed is that almost everyone says they want communication. In reality, very few people actually do. The moment a relationship starts becoming emotionally meaningful or requires consistency and responsibility, many of them disappear. That's when you realize the difference between what people say and what they actually do.

The financial side is no different. Many people make grand promises in the beginning, but when it's time to follow through, they don't. I've never demanded anything unreasonable. My expectations have always been modest and realistic. Even then, I've repeatedly seen a huge gap between promises and reality.

This is simply my personal experience. I'm not saying everyone is the same. But my experiences have made me much more cautious, and sometimes I genuinely feel that this lifestyle just isn't for me.
