Hello, beautiful people of /r/drugs. Some of you might remember me. I am prescribed 135 5mg Valium pills by my primary care doctor for severe generalized anxiety disorder (1 1/2 pills three times a day) and Ambien 12.5mgs ER (1 at bedtime) for severe insomnia. I suffer from bipolar disorder, PTSD, insomnia, ADHD, and mild autism. As a disclaimer, I am neither addicted to benzos or z-drugs. Valium works when it wants to; I never feel any anxiety relief, but sometimes I do get sleepy and am able to sleep for 30mins to an hour. As for Ambien (generic zolpidem), I am on the highest dosage for the medication and it does not work at ALL. It’s gotten so bad that I’ve had multiple bottles of the same medications all at once; one time I counted over 200+ Valium pills, 60 Ambien. I start to have hallucinations at the three day mark without any sleep. Are my GABA receptors fried? Am I simply extremely resistant to benzos and z-drugs? For further reference, I’ve been prescribed Klonopin and Xanax before. Klonopin did not work. .05mgs of Xanax gave me a sense of calm and relief. What is wrong with me? Is there any way you can restore the function of your GABA receptors?
