Back view this Monday morning.
Happy Monday everyone!
T-minus a few weeks and I’ll officially be out of this house and onto the next chapter. Definitely going to miss this wonderful private fenced-in backyard I’ve gotten so used to, but I’m hopeful the new place will give me the same peace and privacy.
Grateful for this chapter and excited for what’s ahead.

Getting to know me

  1. Do you prefer running solo or with others?

I don’t mind running in a group for certain group runs, and things like that but normally I love training by myself as it is an efficient way for me to make sure that every aspect of my long run is controlled

  1. What do you listen to while running? If it’s music, what are your favorite songs/genres?

So I’m catholic, so I actually started incorporating a daily rosary in my warm-up and it’s usually finished by the time the warm-up is almost over and I’m getting to either the workout if it’s a speed day, or if it’s a easy long run day or medium paste or run, it’s usually done and finished usually by the 2nd mile. From there, then I turn on some good rock music and just kind of enjoy being in the moment.

  1. Would you rather run in dripping hot weather, or the bitter freezing cold?

I think I’m somebody that I’ve always been. I don’t mind the cold weather, but I also kind of like the hot weather. I think I’m one of those people where I feel like I can cool myself down a lot quicker than I can warm myself up so I guess I’m gonna choose the hot weather.

  1. Morning or evening runner?

I’m more of a morning get it done type of runner. I work from home so normally I will either try to go before work or I will try to see what my schedule is like, and then block off a little bit of time just so I can get everything in. I will bring my phone with me so of course in case anybody does need something for me they can reach out.

  1. What’s your dream run location?

I think my dream right location would be somewhere tropical maybe like Barbados or St. Lucia. I have gotten to run in Hawaii and I regret not being awake enough to go running past Niagara Falls when I was up there years ago.

  1. What’s your current running goal?

I think my running goal right now is to run a 315 to a 320 full marathon. I trained a lot for it last year and I was literally hitting about 60 mile weeks and then I had no issues on the long runs and my fueling and everything were perfect, but then I guess the actual race day maybe it was too cold but my right knee started to feel annoyed and so it really had me kind of stopping and walking, and my marathon was not exactly how I planned it so I’m definitely going back to try again

  1. What’s the weirdest thing you’ve seen out on a run?

I would not say it was the weirdest, but I would say it was definitely a culture shock for me. At one point, I lived in Washington state for a few years and so I would always run up and down this straight, but hilly Road and then turn around and come back well every day I would run by it and I saw this little shack and it said coffee stand on it and I was not used to that because being from Louisiana we always have coffee shops and things like that so I wasn’t sure really what a coffee stand was well I had one day where I finished my run and I was like you know what I’m going to stop by the stand and check it out and so I walked up to the stand, and the lady literally came to the window and she was basically there in a G string, no top, and had electrical tape on her nipples. Talk about total 180.

  1. Why do you run?

I run for a lot of variety of reasons. I started running a long time ago after I got out of a long relationship and I was just trying to refine myself and one of my best friends called me and said hey I’m actually heading to this New Orleans run Group do you wanna come and I was skeptical cause I’ve never really ran, so I showed up in gold basketball shoes and just a pair of shorts and a shirt and it was like a 2 mile race and I literally bombed it because I was not used to Running but I kept showing up and I’ve been doing this for now the last 13 years and I just made so many friends, have worked so hard on getting my times down, and it’s just something that I continue to do till this day. I actually went through a divorce last year very unexpected and again Running with something that was always there.

  1. What are your favorite running shoes and/or outfit?

So I am a very simple person and I love going to TJ Maxx and Marshalls because you can always find Running shorts and stuff for next to nothing. I always feel like you don’t need to sit there and have the best of the best in order to be a good runner. I do spend a little more money on the shoes, but I am a big focus group and Survey doer so of course with the money that I get from that and gift cards I use that to buy my running shoes and I’m a big fan of either Adidas pro or the occasional Nike shoes

  1. What sports and exercise do you enjoy besides running?

I love baseball. I have friends of mine that we get together and go to minor league baseball games making a weekend out of it and just having such a wonderful time. I love of course watching football on TV and I guess you could say the other sport that I love participating in, will be golf.

  1. What’s your favorite thing to treat yourself to after a long run?

It has to be a sweet treat after some runs. I love donuts, but I also like a hearty meal and breakfast after my runs eggs, waffles, etc. pre-run. I’m a big fan of a great value brand pop tart. If it is after an evening run from one of the run groups that I go to it is always a burger or some wings something to enjoy.

  1. What’s one item that you just can’t run without?

The one item that I cannot run without, I’m gonna say is my running shorts, lol even though I’ve never done any type of naked run, it probably would be interesting

  1. Tell us a funny running story.

You know what I guess that I can think about it now it probably is funny, but it was just annoying at the time. So earlier this year we have the Saturday before Easter always here in New Orleans. A race called the Crescent city classic and it’s actually the oldest 10k in the United States and it is one of those races where you just try to prepare the night before all your stuff so you can be up in early and get there. So because of my divorce, I live an hour and some change away from the race even though I am making plans to have this house sold and moving back to New Orleans. AnyWho, I literally had everything planned out. So I got up early and I just got myself ready to go and I left the house and it was this constant nonstop stream of forgetting something and getting about a mile and a half or so down the road to get to the interstate, and I had to keep turning around because either I forgot my Garmin watch, I forgot my electrolytes, I forgot my breakfast, I think I went back to the house like four times and I was getting so annoyed at myself at that time but I’m very thankful that I woke up extremely early just to give myself that buffer. Let’s just say that morning I was extremely annoyed, but let’s just also say that I’m pretty sure I can laugh about it now because of how many times I was cursing the air as I would drive back.
