After years of wandering, Herrold, an aspiring magus, has located a tower in exactly the right condition: unoccupied, sturdy enough to last at least a few more decades, and near enough to a few magically significant areas. The ancient stone structure sits atop a cliff overlooking the sea on one side, while dense, monster-infested woods stretch out on the other. An abandoned mine entrance lies half a mile away, and strange ruins dot the coastline. It’s the perfect secluded place to set up a workshop, study forbidden magics, and build power in peace.
…Or so he thought.
On his third night there, he was visited by a witch from the Blackroot Forest. Seeing the new wizard, she explained the previous master of the tower has a long-standing arrangement with the surrounding monster tribes and beings. In exchange for protection, rare reagents, and the occasional magical favor, the old wizard provided them with… very personal services. Sexual pacts. Breeding arrangements. Pleasure in return for loyalty and resources.
And soon the monsters will know a new wizard has taken residence.
