I'd like to play a scenario where I'm answering a quiz/test/trivia/show/questions, but every wrong question lowers my IQ

I'm open to anything else that happens! But that's the basic plot

“We have all this to ourselves?” Faith gasped, halting at the cliff’s edge. Below her stretched a glittering cove of diamond sand and sapphire water, a pocket of paradise set apart from the rest of the world, shielded from wind and waves alike by towering walls of sunblasted rock.

“Yep!” Eva answered with a smile. “All ours, all day!” She bounded past her friend and onto the nearby stairs, her dark curls bouncing with every step. “I mean, assuming no one else shows up, of course.”

Faith hesitated, clutching her bags tight. “And what if they do?” she asked, glancing back at an old sign tangled in coastal shrubs, the words “PRIVATE BEACH” faded but still legible through the leaves.

“We’ll just have to scare ’em off, I guess. C’mon, what are you so worried about? The guy said basically nobody knows about this place. We’ll be fine!”

“Right…” Faith ventured a skinny, pale leg forward, wincing as the old wood creaked beneath her sandals. “Remind me why we trust him again?”

The bronze-toned girl below paused, an impatient huff cracking her mask of good humor. “Look, if you don’t wanna to do this, you coulda said something before we drove all the way out here. Woulda saved me some gas money, at least.”

“I want to do this!” Faith quickly assured, hopping down the next few steps. “It’s just…I dunno. I guess I assumed he was lying to impress you. I didn’t think we’d actually end up…here.”

“Then why’d you agree to come?”

Faith gently touched her friend’s shoulder. “Because you wanted me to. And I wanted to spend time with my bestie.”

Eva blinked, the tension slowly melting from her face. “Aw, Faith. I wanna spend time with you too. It feels like we’ve barely hung out all summer.”

“I know. So we gotta make the most of today, right?”

“Now you’re talking!” Eva took the final stairs in two great leaps, laughing as sand flew beneath her flip-flops “C’mon! We’re burnin’ daylight!

“I’m coming, I’m coming.” Faith smiled, but couldn’t completely shake her unease. When Eva had first told her about this spot, it’d sounded too good to be true. A secret beach off the main coastal road? That practically nobody else knew about? With gentle waters and a spotless shore? What were the odds that such a place existed?

And yet, here it was. As real and undeniable as the warm sand sinking between Faith’s toes. She paused, soaking in the sun and sounds of whispering surf, trying to let the serene surroundings quiet her nerves. In doing so, however, she couldn’t help but notice a palatial house perched at the edge of a nearby cliff, its darkened windows staring out at the water below. It was the perfect perch for someone to spy on the two teens, without either being aware of the intrusive gaze.

Again, those anxious prickles began dancing up Faith’s neck. “Who lives up there?” she asked.

Eva paused unfolding her beach chair, squinting up at the dormant domicile. “Dunno. Maybe nobody.”

“Or maybe he lives there,” Faith guessed, still searching for any movement behind the shadowy glass.

“You mean the guy who told me about this place?”

“It’d make sense, wouldn’t it?”

“Maybe. So what?”

“So…what if he’s up there right now, watching us? What if that’s the whole reason he…” The rest of Faith’s speculation faded, stymied by the sour look on her friend’s face.

Eva sighed. “You really don’t make it easy to relax.”

“Sorry, it’s just…c’mon. Old guy at a diner? Tells you about a secret beach only he knows about? Why would he do that if he didn’t have something to gain?”

“Because he’s nice? Or maybe he was just trying to make conversation. You wouldn’t believe what some of the customers say just to keep me at their table.”

“Eva…”

“Faith!” Eva snapped the beach umbrella open with an aggravated yank. “Can you please just chill out? It’s like you’re trying to ruin the mood here.”

“I’m just saying!” Faith protested. “We’re adults now, Eva. We gotta be more careful about this kind of thing. Especially when we get to college.”

Eva scoffed. “Who’s not being careful?” She withdrew a small, black spray can from her bag. “I brought mace, okay? If anyone shows up, we’ll be ready. It’s not like they can sneak up on us out here anyway.”

“True…” Faith admitted, though her eyes still darted to the house above.

“God, Faith, let it go! We don’t even know if he’s up there. And if he is: who cares? So an old guy wants to watch some cute girls on the beach. Small price to pay for a place like this.”

“I guess…”

“Whatever.” Eva practically tore off her oversized T-shirt, revealing a white string bikini tied across her tan, toned curves. “Just keep your clothes on if it bothers you that much. I’m gonna enjoy myself while the sun’s still out.”

Faith nodded, too tongue-tied to say much else. She watched as Eva stomped off towards the water, longing to follow, yet unable to make a move. Was it pride that anchored Faith to the sand? Fear? Indignation? She struggled to say. All she knew was that it felt like an invisible barrier had appeared around her friend, its power growing stronger the greater the distance between them grew.

It hadn’t always been this way. For most of their lives, Faith and Eva had been the best of friends. They lived on the same street, attended the same schools, and shared everything from their deepest secrets to their silliest dreams. Even through high school, their bond remained intact; even as Eva became prettier and more popular than her narrow, nebbish counterpart; even as their hangouts dwindled from daily necessities to sporadic luxuries; even as Faith worried her closest companion was slowly leaving her behind.

Then college acceptance letters arrived. And suddenly, everything changed. Soon—and for the first time—both girls would be spending most of their days apart, separated by miles of road and echelons of academics. The moment it became clear where their futures were headed, the rift that’d threatened to tear open finally did. All summer, the two teens seemed to purposefully avoid each other, as if silently agreeing that it was better to let the relationship die softly, rather than suffer the pain of a sudden, violent severance.

Such had been the state of affairs until Eva suddenly texted Faith out of the blue, bragging about this cool new spot and inviting her on an end-of-season excursion. Beneath that outreach, there seemed to be an implicit offer, an opportunity to reconnect and revive their relationship, at least while the warm weather lasted. There was no way Faith could turn down such a chance. No matter the outcome, she wouldn’t let this friendship die without a fight.

Alas. So far, said fight had been much harder than Faith had anticipated. And she seemed to be on the losing end of it.

Such thoughts sat heavily in her head as she settled beneath the umbrella’s shade, an open book on her lap and the faint taste of salt in her sigh. She tried to concentrate on the words before her, to make headway on the summer reading list her future professors had assigned. But with every turn of the page, the sounds of Eva’s splashing and squeals reached Faith’s ears, reminding her of what she was missing, what she’d reflexively pushed away. And for what?

Setting Mrs. Dalloway aside, Faith resolved to apologize the first opportunity she got, and at least make an honest attempt to enjoy herself. In a quirk of good timing, Eva apparently chose this moment to emerge from the sun-dappled waters, padding back towards camp with a big smile on her face. It seemed the swim had greatly improved her mood; hopefully that would make her more receptive to Faith’s repentance.

“Hey,” she ventured, watching as Eva plopped into the neighboring chair. “I…wanted to say I’m sorry.”

“Hm?” The dark-haired beauty took a swig of water. “For what?”

“For…being such a downer, I guess.”

Eva capped her bottle. “Whaddaya mean?”

Faith felt her cheeks warm. Had Eva really let it go so quickly? Or was she purposefully drawing this out? “You know,” Faith tried again, “all that stuff about the guy you met? Watching us from the house and everything?”

Eva stared for a moment, then giggled. “Oh, that. I, like, totally forgot. It’s whatevs. I mean, it’s not like you were wrong. He could totally be up there. Perving on us like a…like a dirty ol’ perv.” She tittered. “God. There’s something kinda…hot about that though, right?”

Faith squinted, her relief taking a hard turn into confusion. “Uh…In what way?”

“It’s like…” Her gorgeous friend leaned closer, voice low and conspiratorial. “He’s watching us, right? And, y’know, getting all hot and bothered and stuff. But he knows he can’t actually, like, approach us or do anything that’ll scare us off. So he’s up there, just getting hornier and hornier, and meanwhile we’re down here, having fun, acting like we don’t know. But we, like, totally know and…see what I’m saying? Isn’t that kinda hot? Or am I crazy?”

Faith paused, trying and failing to see it from her friend’s perspective. “I wouldn’t say you’re crazy, but…”

“Eh.” Eva playfully swatted the air. “You’d get it if you saw him. Pretty eyes. Nice beard. Not a bad catch, far as peeping Tom’s go.”

“Ew, Eva! You said he was old enough to be your dad!”

“So what? Old guys can be cute too. Or did you forget about Mr. Hendricks in 8^(th) grade?”

Faith swallowed, suddenly blushing. “Th-that was…different.”

“Uh-huh.” Eva arched a provocative eyebrow. “So if he, like, showed up right now, you wouldn’t totally ask him to join us? Maybe see if he wants to help with your sunscreen? Get all those hard-to-reach places?”

Faith tried several times to respond, only to give up with a bashful laugh. “Sh-shut up,” she stammered.

“Aha!” Eva lifted her hands triumphantly. “That’s what I thought! Can’t fool me, bitch—I know all your secrets!”

“You…!” Faith turned to give her friend a playful shove, only to freeze and avert her eyes. “Uh, Eva? I think your…uh…”

“Huh?” Eva looked down, blinking as her bare breasts stared back. Apparently, her victorious gesture had bounced them free of her top. “Oops.” She giggled. “It’s okay. You don’t gotta look away. Not like you haven’t seen ’em before.”

“I guess.” Faith hazarded a peek. “Have they gotten…bigger?”

“Bigger?” Eva pursed her lips and cupped her chest. “Hm…maybe that’s why my top feels so tight? But I swore it fit earlier and…oh….” Her musings broke into a moan the moment her fingers brushed a nipple. “Oh…oh, they’re sensitive too. Like…super, duper…s-sens…uhhh…uhh…”

“E-Eva?” Faith stammered, trying not to gawk at her friend mindlessly massaging her breasts. “Could you, uh, maybe not?”

Faith was beginning to wonder the same thing. In fact, now that she’d released enough guilt to think about it, there seemed to be something…off about her friend’s demeanor. Eva could be a bit thoughtless sometimes—especially among her more popular friends—but the way she was behaving now felt like a step beyond that. It didn’t just seem lackadaisical or loose. It was...

Well, though Faith hated the term, there was really no other way to describe it:

“Are you…drunk?” she ventured, peering at Eva’s flushed face.

“Huh?” the accused teen recoiled, then laughed. “What are you talking about? I, like, drove us here, remember?”

“Right…” Faith nodded, still not completely at ease.

Eva’s lips curved into a mischievous grin. “Buuuuuut, now that you mention it…I did bring a li’l something special for us.” She bent towards the cooler, rummaging through the ice and sparkling juices before extracting a tall can with a massive “8%” emblazoned on the label.

“Ta-daaa!” she announced proudly. “I snuck a couple’a these from the fridge while I was packing. They’re my brother’s fave; he says they’re like, super strong.”

Faith’s eyes remained riveted to the can, resurgent anxiety speeding her pulse. “Th-that’s alcohol, isn’t it?”

“Uh, duuuuh.” Her friend stuck out her tongue and made a face. “It’s, um, an ‘extra hard seltzer,’” she read. “Hee hee. ‘Extra hard.’”

“We can’t have that!” Faith protested. “Put it away! Before someone sees!”

“Awww, c’mon, Faith.  Who’s gonna find out?” Eva popped the tab with a smirk. “Whoops. Looks like it opened. Can’t put it back now, right? Guess we gotta drink it and, like, destroy the evidence or whatever.” She took a sip and thrust the beverage towards Faith.

“S-stop!” The panicking teen pushed the can away, accidentally knocking it free and spilling its contents.

“Ah!” Eva exclaimed, quickly recovering the beverage. “What the hell, Faith? What’s your problem?”

“What’s yours?” Faith shot back. “It’s bad enough that we’re trespassing on someone’s property, now you wanna add underage drinking to the list?”

Eva groaned. “Oh my gaaaaawwwwd. Can you please just, like, not be total narc for a sec? I’m not askin’ you to rob or bank or somethin’. I just wanna have a couple drinks with my bestie on the beach. Literally, like, nobody cares if we do that.”

“I care. Our parents care. Our schools care too. Did you know McKent has a zero-tolerance policy for underage drinking? I could lose my scholarship. I could get expelled. It’s a serious school with serious standards, Eva. Not like State where they just slap you on the wrist and send you right back to the sorority.”

Faith knew she shouldn’t have brought up their respective schools. But it wasn’t until Eva’s eyes began to water that the anxious teen realized just how badly she’d messed up.

“Shit.” Faith exhaled. “Eva, look, I…”

“No, no.” The offended party shook her head. “You don’t gotta explain. I get what you’re sayin’. Even if I’m too stupid to get into a ‘serious school’ like yours.”

“That’s not…I didn’t mean it like that, okay? I just…”

“Fuck this.” Eva stood, lifted the seltzer to her lips, and downed the rest of the can in three great gulps. With a loud gasp, she wiped her mouth and crumpled the aluminum, staring out into the ocean with hard, hurt eyes. “Y’know,” she continued sadly, “I brought these ’cause I thought they’d help you relax. And I was hoping you’d wanna, like, at least try drinking with your best friend. Y’know, share a last hurrah, or whatever.” She shook her head. “Dunno what I was thinkin’. Maybe I really am stupid.”

“Eva…” Faith reached out, but it was too late. Her friend was already striding back towards the water, shoulders lifting and falling with a visible sigh before they vanished beneath the waves.

Fuck.

Faith had really done it this time.

Grimacing, the guilty teen folded in on herself, fingers clutching at her short, brunette bob. It didn’t make any sense. Hanging out with Eva had once been the best way to spend a lazy summer day. Now, they couldn’t get through a single conversation unscathed. Had they simply become incompatible? Was it possible for two people to change that much?

A silly question; of course it was. They’d done nothing but change for nearly a decade. Their bodies had grown. Their brains had developed. They were no longer kids playing with dolls in the backyard; they were adults, autonomous and accountable, on the verge of leaving their childhood homes behind. Gone were the days of careless fun, of slumber party fashion shows or debates over which member of BTS would make the best husband. Now, every choice made and word spoken between Eva and Faith felt freighted with meaning, their conflicts no longer resolvable via crossing hearts and pinky promises.

Maybe that was the problem. Maybe they were so focused on where their friendship was going, they’d lost sight of what had first brought them together. Maybe if Faith could find a way back, she would be able to chart a path forward. Maybe what she needed to do was stop acting like a serious adult…

…And learn to be a bit childish again.

Chewing her lip, Faith glanced towards the still open cooler, pulse pounding as she made her decision. With trepidatious hands she extracted another can of seltzer, turning the icy beverage over and wondering if she was about to make a huge mistake. It would be by far the most transgressive action she’d ever taken. But if this was what it took to save her most meaningful friendship…

Fuck it.

“Hey, Eva!” Faith called, standing and hoisting the seltzer high.

Out in the water Eva turned, still close enough to shore for her surprise to be visible. Satisfied she was watching, Faith cracked open the can and tipped it towards her lips, doing her best impression of Eva’s earlier chugging feat. Of course, the less experienced drinker only managed a couple swallows before sputtering and coughing. But it didn’t matter—the message had reached its audience. Eva’s shocked expression morphed into one of pure joy, laughter breaking from her lips as she waved for Faith to join her.

The beckoned teen rushed to comply, fingers trembling and fumbling to unbutton her top. Her face felt flushed as she cast the thin garment aside, her eyes reflexively flicking to the house above, wondering against her better judgement what Schrödinger’s Spectator might think. How would he appraise her swimsuit and the body attached? Would he be intrigued? Disappointed? Faith’s blue skirted bikini was hardly the most revealing or enticing of options, especially when compared to Eva’s straining ties and overflowing triangle top.

Then again, even if Faith had gone with something more risqué, it wasn’t like there was a whole lot to show off. Her body had seemingly never figured out how to develop any direction but up, leaving her taller than most of her peers, but flatter and bonier too. Next to Eva, she felt almost boyish, an inadequacy she now tried to ignore as she walked towards the water. It was just her and her best friend today, Faith reminded herself. There was no need to think beyond that.

“Just dive in, Faith!” Eva called. “The water’s great!”

“O-okay. I…oh…” Faith’s hesitance evaporated upon contact, the first rush of tide somehow washing all the tension from her muscles. Eva was right: the water really was great. Perfect, even. It was cool and refreshing, but not cold enough to make Faith shiver, even as it traveled higher up her legs and towards the more…sensitive areas of her anatomy. By the time she was half-submerged, it felt almost as if the waves her welcoming her in, their gentle currents caressing her pale skin, drawing her deeper into their soothing embrace. When she at last reached her friend’s side, Faith couldn’t help but mirror Eva’s goofy grin, the insecurities and anxieties that’d felt so insurmountable now seeming insignificant in this blue, buoyant new world.

“Finally ready to have fun?” Eva asked.

“Psh.” Faith gave an exaggerated scoff, casting herself back and floating into the water’s loving arms. “I was born ready. ‘Fun’ is, like, my middle name. Ack!”

Eva’s splash sent droplets flying across Faith’s face, several managing to land in her open mouth. Yet despite the expected sting of salt, there was also a faint sweetness lingering on her tongue. Not enough to make the taste pleasant, but enough for her to shrug off the sneak attack. Though, of course, this still meant war.

“Ahh!” Eva squealed and giggled as Faith launched a counteroffensive. “Stop! Wait! No fair!”

“Huh? How is this not fair?”

“Your hair’s shorter! It doesn’t, like, get in your eyes when you…aha!”

“Eek! Hey!”

Soon, both girls were dripping pearls of ocean, laughing and panting and utterly soaked. A temporary truce was declared, both parties breaking away to float and swim as they saw fit. This eventually sparked an unofficial race, the pace increasing until they were openly chasing each other around the cove. All the while, Faith couldn’t stop smiling for more than a few seconds, even when she accidentally looked into the windows above, or noticed the open can of seltzer still resting on the shore. Despite knowing what they represented, she couldn’t seem to care. The longer she spent playing with her bestie, the less everything else seemed to matter, her thoughts as light and bright as the sunbeams dancing upon the water.

Was this a consequence of the alcohol? The atmosphere? Did it really matter? Not enough to distract her from more pressing concerns: namely, sneaking up on Eva while she was floating, and hoisting her out of the water before she could escape.

“Raaaahhhhh!” Faith roared theatrically. “Surprise attaaaack!”

“Eep! Ah!” Eva slipped from her friend’s grasp, squirming and thrashing as she crashed back into the sea.

“Gotta be more careful, Eva,” Faith teased. “Or a big ol’ octopus is gonna carry you away.”

Eva emerged from the depths sputtering and giggling. “Nuh-uh! You’re the one the octopus is gonna get. You and your noodle-y tentacle legs.”

“Who you callin’ a noodle?” Faith reached to seize her friend again, only to halt as her hands found bare skin where bikini strings used to be. “Uh, Eva? Where’s your top?”

“Huh?” The bronze beauty felt herself up for a moment, turning and scanning the surrounding water. “Um. I think it…uh…?”

Faith fell back cackling. “Uh-ooohhh. Looks like someone had a wardrobe mal…um, malun…like…what’s the word?”

“It’s gotta be here somewhere. You don’t think, like, a fish stole it or anything, right?”

“Malfunction! That’s it!”

“That’s what?”

“Huh?”

“Whaddaya mean?”

“Um.” Faith blinked. Then giggled. “I forgot.”

Eva shrugged. “Well, whatever. It was squeezin’ the life outta me anyway. Now the girls can finally breathe.” She gave her shoulders a playful shimmy, sending ripples through her large, pendulous breasts.

Faith stared, transfixed, cuing another giggle from her friend.

“What?” Eva said coyly. “Like whatcha see?”

Satisfied, she set the drink aside. There was no need to worry. If she just sat for a while and sobered up, everything would return to normal. She would miss her new chest, but it’d be worth it to be able to move without her tight nipples screaming to be fondled.

Seeking distraction, Faith retrieved her book, flipping to where she’d left off and settling in to read. It only took a few pages for her to realize something was off. A warm sigh wafted from the spacey reader’s lips. Her eyes still scanned the lines of text, but her mind had wandered elsewhere, lost in hazy imaginings of what her friend must’ve felt. “U-um,” Faith stammered as Eva took a long swig. “I, like, dunno if we should be drinkin’ that.”

The buxom beauty lowered the can with a peeved look. “Like, seriously? Are we doing this again?”

“N-no!” Faith quickly gestured for peace. “I-I don’t mean ’cause it’s, like, against the rules or whatever. I just think, um…don’t you feel kinda funny?”

Eva cocked her head. “Like, duh, silly. That’s the whole point of alo…alcol…um…of drinking.”

“B-but what about your, um, boobs?” Faith pointed to her friend’s expansive bust, right as a bead of water fell from her still-taut nipples.

“What about ’em? They’re super pretty, right?”

“Yeah,” Faith agreed automatically, then shook her head. “No. I mean, yes. I mean…they didn’t used t’be like that. Right? And, like, now mine are….” Her gaze fell to her own chest, the swell of soft flesh temporarily derailing her train of thought.

“Ooohhh, I get it now,” Eva purred, setting the beverage down and stepping closer. “Don’t worry, bestie. I won’t leave ya hangin’.”

“Whuh?” Faith looked up to see a sultry smile forming on her friend’s lips. “I don’t…hnnnghh…” The rest of her protest was lost as a teasing finger traced the front of her top, sending a hot jolt through her.

“It’s okay,” Eva cooed. “You don’t gotta ask. I know what you want.”

"I...I...ooohhhh..." Faith shuddered, paralyzed by pleasure, unable to do anything but moan as her friend stepped behind the back the chair, both hands now smoothing over Faith's shivering, sensitive breasts before shifting them free of her top.

"Oh wow, Faith," Eva's breath tickled her captive's ear. "Look at theeeeesssee. Have you, like, gotten bigger?"
