BetaSafe Editor V5 Released - Quality of Life Updates

Hey betas! V5 is less “here’s a pile of new buttons” and more making what you already use work better — exports, video saves, and batch editing got a serious pass. There are a few new things too (ads, to keep it free). Still 100% in your browser; your media is never uploaded for editing.

What got better in V5?
Export & video saves (the big one):
- True-format export — JPG/WebP/MP4 stay that format when possible instead of always landing as PNG/WebM; button shows what you’ll actually get (e.g. Export JPEG), with a clear message when a fallback is needed.
- Save Over Original — overwrite the source file in place (images, GIFs, MP4s). Load a folder with write access, censor, save, next file. Confirmation + auto-restore on failure. Chrome / Edge.
- Video export fixes — MP4 permission on click (not load), normal playback speed in saved files, stable batch folder saves, sharper Chrome encoding.
Batch editing workflow:
- Smoother multi-file sessions — images, GIFs, and videos in one upload (up to 10), folder load, timeline to switch/reorder, Remove from session or Delete source file (with write access). Less re-loading, less hunting for exports.
UI polish:
- Clearer tool labels (Shape (Blur / Mosaic)), Text Overlay moved up in the list, loading spinner scoped to the canvas.
A few new things
Display ads (ExoClick + JuicyAds) — help keep BetaSafe free. Desktop side banners, mobile top bar.
/privacy+ EEA consent; ad-blocked slots show support cards instead of breaking layout.BetaSafe Ad Mode — optional toggle to censor ad zones on your screen (Blur / Light / Moderate / Heavy / Harsh / Black Box + opacity; defaults Light @ 75%). Visual overlay only.
What’s next (rough order)
- Quick hide / temporary “remove all regions” — a bunch of you asked; this is next on my list before the next AI wave.
- AI auto-censor upgrades — eyes detection + auto-censoring, clothing/coverage-style picks, tighter precision, and smarter auto-regions + keyframes on video.
- AI on animated GIFs — manual censor + GIF export works today; auto-censor for multi-frame GIFs is still on the roadmap.
- Tougher MP4 edge cases — keep hardening playback and export for files that stutter or encode oddly (email me examples — they help a lot).
Privacy first
Editing is on-device only. Save Over Original writes to paths you pick. Ads use third-party cookies/impressions (/privacy); Ad Mode prefs are local storage only.
Save Over Original / folder delete: Chrome or Edge with write access. PWA users: reinstall if a cached build isn't showing the new features.

I read every report — debug logs make fixes way faster.
- Open BetaSafe with
?debug=trueon the URL (e.g.https://betasafe-editor.com/?debug=true). - Reproduce the issue (same steps that broke it for you).
- Click the copy debug logs button in the sidebar (clipboard icon next to the email icon — only shows in debug mode). It copies a trace to your clipboard.
- Email betasafe.editor@gmail.com (email icon in the app works too) with what you were doing + paste the logs, or DM me the logs on Reddit.
No logs needed for general feature ideas — those are welcome anytime.
