I think this is why BDSM can feel so transformative for many many people
The rope, the roles, the rituals are often just a language or something, but what they're communicating is something much more fundamental about trust, vulnerability, desire and identity.
The part "The body knows first, the mind catches up later" feels very true to me regarding any form of BDSM
