First off im bot TRYING to be rude so if i come off that way im sorry. But Im not going to lie im kinda tired of seeing posts about the ova. I liked it as much as the next guy and I do with there had been a better situation and it could have gone on more and maybe people got fleshed out more? Idk but theres SO MUCH more going on with meru than the ova like so much official art fan art even merch now. If you want to talk about meru let's talk about some other stuff like ideas for art or if were commissioning anything, maybe someone's doing a cool cosplay or planning on it, maybe youre excited for merchandise to come out please something different lol.

I get it This is an open forum and people can just talk about whatever they want and thats fine and im sure for a lot of people the ova was their gateway to meru but theres mooore to talk about. Especially not the random penises with a face from the ovas like thet are any more than just that o.o

Because he is like the macguffin of the OVAs. Like I get that it isn’t really that lucrative to make art of male characters since you won’t get engagement and he lost the model but y has no fat art been made besides the reason I said?

Before I discuss what I wanna ask, I wanna make a disclaimer: I’m aware that the OVA isn’t really considered canon, nor is there really a canon at all. Also, I’m aware it’s silly to pull apart the logistics of the plot of a hentai series and sounding like cinema sins while at it, but I genuinely got invested and this has been tickling my brain since I saw it.

What I wanna discuss here is the relationship between the succubus and the host, more specifically how it works for the host.

In the OVA, at the end, the woman being controlled by the succubus questions where she is and how she got there, implying she was not conscious. However, the OVA also kinda contradicts this. Sometimes in the OVA (specifically here the moment with the ugly ass emo dude in the chess club), the viewer is told that the host is feeling nervous, implying that the host can express some sort of consciousness or at least some awareness while being controlled. This brings me to wonder: is the host ACTUALLY aware of what’s happening or are they completely blank during the event and the emotions displayed are instinctual?

The best explanation I could find for this was a comment on a Reddit post here that claimed that the *spirit* of the host is responsible, however this then leads me to ask if the spirit of a host affects the succubus’s emotions or desires. Like if she were to take over a host that were lesbian, would the succubus also become lesbian, or would that not affect them?

Also, if the host WERE conscious, would they be able to actually interact with the succubus if they wanted (like how Venom can talk to the host in their head)? Furthermore, could the host take over their own body?

Again, fully aware that these questions or irrelevant but I want to hear what people think about this.
