I have had the ruby twist for a few months now and i love it. I mostly smoke hasj through it(iceolator,drysift).the weed losses its flavor way quicker then the hasj.just a few crumbs will give me a 5 to 10 minute flavorfull session.it gunks up the mesh in the bowl though. I clean this thing 3 or 4 times a day with iso to get the airflow back.i dont reallylike putting it ontop of weed since the weed loses its flavor and starts to taint the flavor at some point. Is there like small ceramic or glass cups you could put some hasj or other concentrates on and then insert in the bowl?how do you do it?

Eleven Tropicana C Bake-Off. I love Girl Scout Cookies so last weekend I picked up a half ounce of this fresh Eleven Sativa Tropicana C from Ethos Pleasant Hills for ≈ $50. I was able to snag 2 different quarters from two different batches, packaged the same day, for a classic A/B Trop C taste test. Eleven’s Tropicana C is a Sativa cross between Girl Scout Cookies and Tangie, bred from Bloom Seed Co. genetics. Overall a terrific daytime strain, especially for folks with an aversion to the taste and/or effects terpinolene (makes some people anxious). Nice all around effects for me, no anxiety, I medicate with Trop C first thing in the morning, or mid afternoon for a pick me up before dinner. Without further ado, the bake off!

The Bakers:

Appearance:

Overall Trop A had buds that were shaped like blue dream, it had some of those classic 3 pointed nuggets that are shaped a bit like a maple leaf. Trop B had larger, more oblong/elliptical buds. The color of the flower was indistinguishable to my eye. Further more both batch’s seemed equally coated in trichomes. I would not be able to tell these two batches apart if not for the bud shapes, but that is most likely a coincidence that the shapes were distributed as such. It is more likely that both batches contained similar bud shapes. The buds have a similar ‘spring’ when squeezed, and both batches seem to have near perfect RH to the touch. When broken up by hand the buds remind me of those little sticker plants that grab onto your socks when you walk through tall, unkept, wild grasses.

Smell:

When I first popped the bags, both batches had a distinct strawberries and cream aroma, like the hard candy Werther’s Crème Savers. Trop B had a stronger smell overall, but Trop A had some additional floral/chemical notes on the finish. Mild guava, and a hint of anise or black licorice.

After a week in glass jars, the strawberries and cream smell had settled and was replaced by a more well rounded bouquet. After 1 week, Trop A smells like citrus and with a hint of strawberries and a bit of my Aunt Judy’s potpourri. Trop B smells more strongly of citrus and also some kind of cleaning solution, a kind of chemical citrus, B also still has a bit of strawberry on the finish. There is also an earthiness present now that I missed earlier, it reminds me of cereal and milk.

Taste: Using a Terp Chasers Club Universal Baller w/ Ruby Liner/discs and ≈ 90 3mm rubies, I pre-heated my ball vape to 525°F and did 5 hits per strain (I did NOT preheat the bowl). I pulled through a custom Davin Titland 14mm 7-slit Toranada Incycler Ball Vape Rig. I cleaned the rig and bowl between Trop A and Trop B. 6 Pictures are posted (in order) to indicate level of doneness before and after each hit.

Trop A:

The first hit is delicious. Citrus, specifically orange Juice I think. There is tart coming from somewhere else though, it reminds me of red raspberries. The finish has hints of lobster shell or nori, as well as what do tastes to me like a hint terpinolene. Eleven only posts top 3 terps, so it may have some? I had a very minor terp tickle at the base of my nose.

The second hit had muted citrus, but now some of the strawberries and cream I was smelling earlier is coming forward. There is also a toastiness, like roasted malt. I coughed twice and after my last exhale, I could swear it tasted like I was standing on a rocky cliff on the coast of northern Maine.

Hits 3 - 5 were used to clean the remaining cannabinoids, and are not usually done for flavor. They tasted progressively more toasty and bitter. No more citrus, no more salty sea air.

Trop B:

The first hit is a chorus of flavor. I’m getting black licorice Necco, citrus fruit, ocean air, and a hint of strawberry. It is very similar to the Trop A, but overall more pronounced and complex.

The second hit is already quite different. I’m tasting Aunt Judy’s Potpourri now. It’s like I’m walking into an antique store or used book shop.

The third hit managed to still have a bit of flavor happening. I noticed some elements of earthiness, like dirt maybe? The Caryophyllene is starting to shine through a bit. There is a pleasant smokiness happening.

The fourth hit was becoming quite bitter, though I noticed notes of rubber, or maybe like a peaty scotch. The fifth hit was unremarkable.

Conclusion:

Both batches of Tropicana C taste great to me, and have solid effects, I don’t think you could go wrong with either bag. Judge for yourself based on these notes which you might prefer. Despite their obvious similarities, I was genuinely surprised how different the smell and taste were from batch to batch. I hope you enjoyed this bake-off as much as I did, I’ll be hunting for more double batch strains for future bake-offs. Let me know your favorites! (White Iverson is next)
