Historically speaking, it was not long ago that a woman seeking a doctor's help with various symptoms, both physical and or mental would find her condition grouped as "Female Hysteria " and she would be subjected to long standing accepted treatments.

The said treatments documented in medical texts of the time as having originated in 300BC or earlier. While these treatments would eventually evolve to include some other modalities, and surgical procedures, the time tested cure for all was manual massage of the female genitalia to cause hysterical paroxysms. Yes, you read that right. The cure was repeated orgasms.

Obviously many of these women experienced very intense and intimate ravishment in every sense of the word.
