HEALTHY DISCHARGE: Medication and Cleaning Routine.

Hi girlies! I know many of you also have problems “down there,” especially with vaginal discharge. I hope this post reaches you. I just want to share my experiences and routines that have worked for me and maybe they can help you, too.

Yellowish/Greenish discharge? with fishy/foul smell and itchiness? Girl, that is 100% not normal. It could be bacterial vaginosis (BV).

If you are sexually active, especially if you have multiple partners, it may be the cause. If you’re having sex without a condom and doing it raw, that could be the reason 100%. There may be something on your partner’s penis that isn’t healthy for your vagina.

Reoccurring BV, If keeps coming back, it might be because you keep doing the same things—like having sex with a partner who triggers it. You know what I mean. This also what my OB told me.

Or, if you think your partner is clean, then your vaginal cleaning routine might be the problem.

This is based on my experience. Even though I’m not sexually active anymore, I still had BV. My OB told me that if BV is left untreated (with antibiotics), it may never fully go away. So it’s important to get consulted and treated with antibiotics if you have these symptoms.

WHAT MY OB PRESCRIBED:

-Metronidazole for one week (antibiotic)
-Probiotics: “Floracap” for one month

After one week, my discharge already changed and it became clearer.

Along with the antibiotic and probiotic, I changed my cleaning routine. Before, I used to wash after every time I peed and I often didn’t keep myself dry. Well, I still doing it sometimes hehe BUT, Always keep your vagina dry after peeing. Use toilet paper to pat dry consistently, and you’ll see results. I also used a feminine wash product (Human Nature) in the pink variant. I only used it in the morning. In the evening (before bed), I used water only.

For now, I stopped taking Floracap and switched to Pureform pre+probiotic for women instead, because Floracap is a bit expensive for me. Take it one hour before meals, and I think it works better if you follow the directions on the box. Please do guys, invest on probiotics, a girlies must have!

Edit: ++++Before, I really have excessive discharge, like everyday. But these past few months after the course of antibiotics, taking pre+probiotics, and consistently doing my cleaning routine lessen the amount of it. There’s a different amount of discharge, sometimes I don’t have any and some other days it has only small drop of it.

I also take vitamins to strengthen my immune system, maybe this helps me also.

-Centrum Advanced
-Vitamin E

Please note: this is my personal experience—if you’re dealing with symptoms like these, it’s still best to see an OB/GYN for proper diagnosis and treatment. I HOPE THIS HELPS!

UTI OR STI :(

Just looking for some answers to ease my mind a bit.

I recently had unprotected sex the end of july and right after i felt soreness & just uncomfortable. Which i just brushed off as normal .. a few days later i got symptoms of fishy odor, water discharge and just uncomfortable feeling which all matched symptoms of BV i had prior so i just asked my gyno for the pills and she sent them over. I also am prone to yeast infections after antibiotics so i took medicine for that after finishing the course as i was starting to feel symptoms.

The past couple days I felt the same yeast infection symptoms and just thought oh i needed another pill so i went to urgent care to see. When they tested my urine they say that there is blood in my urine, my white blood cells are really high and there is also a high amount of protein in my urine. And it’s possible it’s not a yeast infection but i would have to wait till results from the lab come back.

I’m just really worried right now and my anxiety is through the roof.

Brown discharge/ birth control

So I had sex around a hour ago and it had been a couple of weeks since the last time, and every time I have done it it has been a little painful but it was getting better being that I am unexperienced and still new, and I came home and saw brown discharge, is it because I haven’t had sex in a couple weeks and because there wasn’t really any preparation

And also do I need to worry about pregnancy we used the withdrawal method and I’m on the combination pill and yesterday was my last active pill and idk of Instead of getting my period if I should just start a new pack

Abnormal profuse, yellow discharge after chlamydia treatment that won't go away.

Hi all, I will try to make this as short and sweet as I possibly can. I am reposting in other subreddits that I think are revelant in order to gain more reach, apologies if that is not allowed; I will remove reposts if deemed necessary :)

Any advice from anyone who recognises these experiences is greatly appreciated.

CONTEXT:

- I (F25, Australia) started being sexually active for the first time in early June. I have only had two sexual partners so far. I slept with each partner only once. The first partner was in early June and the second partner was in early July. I haven't been sexually active since the second partner in July. Both were protected except for July partner where the condom slipped twice. As far as I was concerned, both had tested negative for common STI's.

- Can provide pictures of discharge if need be.

Early July
- A few days after the second partner from July, I displayed classic UTI symptoms; urgency to pee, still feeling like I needed to pee even after going, pain when urinating (I didn't pee after sex that time, so that was probably the reason as to how I acquired it) and was prescribed a 7 day course of thrimethoprim. Symptoms cleared.

- This was also where the profuse yellow discharge started; no unsual or strong odour, stretchy and quite mucosal like snot (lol) about 3 days after sleeping with July man. It was suspected thrush so I was put on 6 day clotrimazole pessary. After I finished the pessary tablets, it cleared but then came back about 4 days later.

Mid/End of July
- I left it due to a busy schedule and it was about 10 days before I went back to the doctors as it was still present and I started to feel like it was something else. Doctor was adamant it was BV even though it didn't meet the "usual" criteria for BV (thin, gray or white vaginal discharge, a strong fish-like odor) but prescribed me metronidazole. I'm aware that infections can present differently across many but I asked to be tested for chlamydia, gonorrhoea, mycoplasma genitalium, HIV, syphilis, hep B, hep C; all negative except for chlamydia. I am also aware of window periods vs. incubation but I felt like it was time for me to get somewhat of a "routine" STI check as it was nearing 6 weeks since my first sexual encounter in June.

Early August
- Safe to assume the positive chlamydia result was probably the cause for this abnormal yellow discharge. It appeared within the two week window of sleeping with the July man and he also tested positive after I notified him. I notified June man and he tested negative. I was put on a 2x tablet a day, 7 day course of doxycycline.

Mid August
- After a few days on doxycycline, the abnormal yellow discharge reduced and subsided but then a day after finishing treatment, it came back as if it never left.

- 2 days after finishing the last doxycycline tablet, I started displaying symptoms of a UTI again; urgency to pee, still feeling like I needed to pee even after going, pain when urinating but this time blood had appeared and I know it wasn't my period because I had finished it a week prior.

- Went back to the doctors and did a throat swab + urine sample for chlamydia and gonorrhoea (I know the recommended time to do a test-of-cure for chlamydia is 4 weeks after finishing treatment but the doctor gave me a swab testing kit anyway for peace of mind; I will do another test-of-cure at the recommended time to ensure it's fully cleared) as well as mycoplasma genitalium, trichomoniasis and a general vaginal MCS. We also did a urine MCS. Chlamydia was cleared and everything was negative except it came back positive for a UTI and I went on a 3 day course for trimethoprim. Experienced chills, nausea and felt hot (It's winter where I am) on the first day of taking trimethoprim and took panadol, felt fine after. After 3 days on trimethoprim, UTI symptoms cleared.

WHERE I'M AT:

- This morning I started displaying classic UTI symptoms again; feeling like I need to pee again even after urinating as well as slight pain/discomfort when urinating. My urine is also super yellow almost like the colour of mountain dew but I am terrible with my water intake as well as not peeing as often as I should, so there's my answer I suppose regarding the frequent UTI's. Have scheduled a telehealth consult for today to see if they want me back on antibiotics.

- Profuse yellow discharge ebs and flows depending on the day, seems to be a lot when I wake up or after arousal but subsides during the day. This isn't my normal discharge, prior to both sexual encounters, it used to be clearish and minimal or "normal" amount.

MY QUERY:

- There's definitely something not quite right or an infection/inflammation of some sort; if I have tested negative for chlamydia (will retest end of August or first week of September for a more accurate test-of-cure), gonorrhoea, mycoplasma genitalium and trichomoniasis and it's all negative then what is it that's causing this profuse yellow discharge? Any opinions on whether I should test for BV, thrush, ureaplasma or maybe some form of cervicitis or PID? Or is this just a normal physiological change/altered vaginal flora since becoming sexually active? Or maybe residual discharge from the chlamydia after treatment? Which is what my doctor suggested.

- My only symptom is this profuse yellow discharge, again no unsual or strong odour, there's definitely a smell but it's not foul or offensive. It's stretchy and quite mucosal like snot and the amount equates to about 1/4 of a teaspoon. And then from this morning, now I am displaying the classic UTI symptoms again. I have not or am not experiencing any deep lower abdominal or pelvic pain.

Just exhausted at this point. I feel like I'm scheduling consults or vising the GP every week or so, wasting their time and resources. If anyone has been in a similar situation, any help would be greatly appreciated :)

UPDATE 24/08/26:

- Spoke to my GP and they said it's most likely a great shift in my vaginal microbiome due to all the antibiotics I've been on in the last two months (7 day course of trimethoprim for the UTI, 7 day course of doxycycline for chlamydia, 3 day course of metronidazole for suspected BV, as well as another 3 day course of trimethoprim for another UTI) + the chlamydia, 3 bouts of a UTI in the last two months and 1 bout of thrush. Just a lot in such a short amount of time. I asked to add aerobic vaginitis and ureaplasma to the test referral but for some reason (I can't remember why) they didn't think it was necessary...

- They've put me back on a 7 day course of trimethoprim for the UTI. Has asked me to swab for chlamydia and gonorrhoea again to ensure it's neither. Has also asked me to do a MCS swab again to see if it grows anything. They said to wait until those results come back and then we might do a cervical screen and go from there. If anyone is interested, I will keep this post updated.

I THINK MY ETERNAL INFECTION IS CURED

Since about 11 months i’d been having discharge with odour at certain times of my cycle (post period, pre period and ovulation). This was along with itching- sometimes so severe that it’d swell up my vagina and peeing and cleaning would hurt. I didnt do anything for 6 months because I thought it’d go away.Kept looking at misleading reddit posts and stupid non doctor redditors scaring everyone. This used to make me insecure due to my odour/itching. I’d keep having to use panty liners and wipes.I didnt even have sex for this whole time😭.

3 months ago i started feeling vexed and i knew this cant be normal and for sure has a treatment. it took me 3 months of trips to the gynac for her to understand which medicines worked on me and what my root cause was. It was a mixed vaginal infection (BV and candida yeast). She started me off with a probiotic which didnt help. Then she gave me the fas 3 kit follower by clingen forte . WORKED ! It was a harsh course but worked.

I cannot stress on the importance of being with your gynac for a long time. Some of these bacteria need a combination of medicines. it takes patience, trial and error.

Post this she’s given me sacroflora to treat the protective layer of my vagina. I havent been getting itching flare ups and my discharge has no odour. This is almost too good to be true for me and I thank the lord for it. I can finally feel confident again and feel good about myself.

LESSON : Dont listen to any one , be with your gynac.

Recurrent BV

Am I the only one? Has anyone actually beat recurrent infections? No matter what I do I constantly have BV. I'm at wits end. It's ruining my mental and emotional health. I've lost all my confidence and self esteem. It's strained my sex life. I'm in a relationship and I've completely stopped having sex. I take a probiotic and I do all of the things that you're "supposed to do" and I don't do any of the things you're not supposed to do. I've changed soaps and laundry detergents. I only wear cotton underwear, I sleep bottomless. Even when my fiancé and I exclusively used condoms I still had problems. We both have good hygiene. I'm on this endless cycle of BV and then yeast because the antibiotics also seem to give me a yeast infection every single time. I'm so fed up, I don't know if switching doctors would help somehow. It's making me hate myself and hate being a woman. I just want this cycle to end. I just got prescribed my second round of metronidazole this month. I'm averaging needing that and fluconazole at least once a month.

My vagina smells like cheese?

Hi everyone! I’m in a bit of a predicament. My partner told me he’s smelling sort of a cheese/dairy smell coming from my vagina. I’m pretty on top of things and I don’t use scented soaps. TMI I did put my finger in my vagina and had him smell it after he told me and he said it’s not coming from there so I’m really unsure of what to do next. I’ve had BV and a yeast infection before so I know what the symptoms of that is like. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Lube vs injury?

So, I [F18] have been using a toy for a few weeks and only have recently just started experiencing issues with use.

I don’t personally believe I need lube but am I causing injury?

I don’t know how to explain the experience. I end up with some sort of blister or friction burn etc and can be sore for a couple of days - I don’t know if I’m making it worse.

Additionally, I don’t know if this is related to anything bodily wise or toy wise but right hip pain? I don’t know, I’ve experienced it for about a year before I began using toys etc. Are they all related issues of a sort? I’m due on my period and suffer with symptoms a week before all the time and I’ve only recently started getting irritation (ok it sounds dumb, could be overthinking it)

how do i control the sweat smell from my vulva

I feel gross for making this post because it’s something i’m extremely insecure about but i need advice. Ever since i was in my late teens, my sweat has smelled really strong, like onions. I’m 21 now and still struggle with it. I can obviously control my underarm sweat with deodorant, but i also sweat very heavily around my vulva/the inside of my labia majora. I’ve tried many different methods and none of them have helped me long enough for it to make a huge difference. It makes me feel gross and unattractive, i don’t even enjoy the mention of sex anymore because i’m so worried about it. If anyone knows what i need to change or how i can manage this it would be greatly appreciated.

Help

Ok so I went to my gyno. Tested positive for a yeast infection. This is only my 2nd one I’ve ever had. First was in high school.

Anyways I couldn’t take the pills I’m allergic to them. Took one and had headaches, nausea and my lips started to blister. I have similar problems with antibiotics. So I opted for the monistat 1. I’ve heard bad stories about it but I wanted a one and done solution. I feel like I handled it fine I didn’t have any intense burning or bleeding. But it’s day 3 and I think the YI isn’t gone. I’m feeling slightly irritated like I did before I went in. Is it normal to still feel irritated?? Could the treatment have irritated me and it’s just from that?

I’m getting frustrated with trying to get rid of this but don’t want to keep trying things for fear of irritating myself further if that’s the problem.

Reoccurring bv

About 4–5 months ago, I started having stomach/pelvic pain and abnormal discharge. I tested positive for BV, with multiple bacteria including Mobiluncus curtisii, Mobiluncus mulieris, Atopobium vaginae, Gardnerella vaginalis, Prevotella bivia, and BVAB2. I was treated with oral metronidazole.
About 2 months later, the BV returned, so I was prescribed metronidazole gel, which made me feel 100% better. Now, about 4 months later, it’s back again. I went to urgent care today and tested positive for BV, but they didn’t do another culture. They prescribed tinidazole, so I’m assuming it could be the same bacteria as before.
I also started taking Fem-Dophilus (5 billion CFU, GR-1 and RC-14). I finished the antibiotics 5 days ago, but I’m already noticing discharge again, although there’s no odor this time. I still have about half a tube of Metrogel left. I haven’t had sex recently, and my partner is currently on antibiotics as well.
I’m trying to avoid repeated doctor visits and testing because I can’t afford it. Boric acid is something I really wanted to avoid, but I’m not sure what else to do. What would be the best approach from here? Is this discharge normal or what??? Sb help omg

I’m very frustrated with this cycle

If you go to my page, I’ve been dealing with consistent yeast infections and BV for about 2 years now. I’ve done the Evvy Test (96% disruptive bacteria), negative for ureaplasma/mycoplasma, negative for any STIs, only positive for Albicans.

Per my Evvy results:
• Type 4-C0
• Tough biofilm
• Mostly BV bacteria

For reference, I get symptomatic and have lots of discharge (with a bleach smell) around when I’m about to ovulate or when I’m going to get my period. I’ve done the weekly metronidazole treatment 4 times (at different times with months passing in between), Fluconazole countless times (including a 6 month suppression therapy), about 8 different probiotics, diet changes, hygiene changes, I’ve used boric acid (not too consistently I’ll admit), and the GCL Lactic acid gel (in the green tube).

I’ve just went back for a swab and am, yet again, positive for yeast and bv. My GYNO wants to prescribe the medications again.

Pleaseee help. I have no idea what more I can do. I have no more options to try as I’ve tried all and they’ve all failed basically. My partner has also done metronidazole twice now, he’s willing to do it again. We’ve agreed that we can abstain for a month to see if that could help, however as most can probably admit, being intimate is really valuable to us both (especially to me, it’s a good de-stressor).

Internal itch

Hi guys- wondering if anyone has had a similiar experience. About a month ago I had an allergic reaction to a condom. This caused significant itching on the outside of my vagina. Now, the itch has gone internally. It’s just like a subtle itch in my vagina. I went to the doctors and got tested for stis, BV and yeast infection. All negative. I have no change in discharge, no painful urination, no smell. However this itch is persistent and is very uncomfortable. It’s kind of subtle but it’s so uncomfortable that it’s there. Could this just be irritation from the condom reaction, it just doesn’t make sense as it was a month ago.
Has anyone had a similar experience with a reaction to a condom or itching like this?
