With the cage door underneath me, I'm helplessly stuck. They love seeing how uncomfortable I am, how useless. People aren't kept this way. Toys are.

When I get locked in the cage like this, I know this won't be a short session. It takes several minutes to set up, and requires tilting the whole cage so that I can enter from underneath. There's zero chance of me ever getting out of it on my own. It feels very different. It's the meanest way to put the cage. The floor is uncomfortable, there's no way to lie down, and the neck opening at the top is an ever-present threat. Just a few minutes stuck with my neck out and I start shaking desperately.
The patrons love it.
It fills me with dread.
Truly stuck in my place, whether I accept it or not.
No way out.
