I had a “SD” on this subreddit reach out to me and we ended up chatting and it actually seemed nice enough. He told he lived in a city 1.5 hours from me and we even video called. There were a couple strange things that happened like he told me he likes to take his time to get to know someone before a M&G and asked for photos right away which I declined and he was fine with. Though these were red flags. After a day, I discovered he lived in a whole other country by some of the background noise I heard during a call. I called him on it and he immediately hung up and blocked me.
Plot twist, I searched on this subreddit and a few other women have had this guy do the same thing except one actually met him. I guess he dangled a high ppm but never shelled out and just asked for platonic dates.
It’s been a couple weeks and I’ve just thought that yes, of course, I was a little dumb but it lasted 1 day. But the other thing that I keep thinking is why do some guys do this? He was in his 40s, well-spoken, and not bad looking. I’m sure he could do regular dating. Why this?
