Is it weird to go to a fetish event alone? (M21)

I'm thinking of going to a leather/rubber fetish night so that I can find more folks into my fetish. However I dont really have kinky friends I can go with.

Genuinely, what are these events like to go to by yourself? Are folks generally friendly, or cliquey? I only worry cause ive been to a fetish event once with a friend and people generally stuck to their own groups and didn't talk to others much. I'm quite a socially anxious person so im wary to not upset people or drag them away from their friends.

Edit: Its not that I want people to just come over and initiate everything, I know ive got to do a lot of the work to talk to people and initiate, and I really enjoy it after the first 10 seconds, I guess im asking for tips on how to do that in a non weird way? especially with people that are in groups? is there some sort of internal script that I could rely on? Im not very good at starting conversations and many a time in kink settings and otherwise ive made people feel weird or uncomfortable because of how shoddy my initiatiating is haha

Where to find a leather community? (UK)

I've been into leather for a while, have quite a lot of gear and wear it a lot at the gay club I work at. But I live in a smaller city, and the few guys into leather on the apps aren't compatible with me sexually and do not seem interested in a solely platonic friendship.

I'm sure its not all on the apps anyway, any good recommendations from any leather men about where to go, physically or online? preferably UK tips, but any tips from any leather men would be great! I don't mind if the spaces are sexual or not, I just want to be leathered up with other leathered folk. I know about the big names, Folsom and Berlin Easter, but its a bit out of my price range and I'd rather do something local and intimate than a yearly event at this point in my life.

Oh, and Im from Glasgow :)
