(Review) L4B Dreamlands
Hello everyone, it has been quite some time since I've been on here, a little over a year, but when I saw that LittleForBig released a hook and loop dip, I simply had to try them out. I've always loved how incredibly soft L4B dips are and how reliable the hook and loop fasteners are on dips from other companies like ABU, so finally getting the best of both worlds should be a dream come true (pun intended).
Comfort: 10/10. Starting off really strong here. As mentioned before, L4B makes some of, if not the softest dips on the market which adds a lot to their comfort factor. The cloth backing on these minimizes chafing discomfort. That being said, I'm also not the most active, so high mobility activity might still make the chafing noticeable. The medium is still just a tiny bit too big for me, but that's not all bad since being able to walk the tabs along with hook and loop still makes for a nice snug fit. Wetting them feels a little different, but not in a bad way. More on that in Absorbency.
Cute: 7/10. Love the shade of pink, love the bow, and the Shampoo-esque character on them, but the stars, clouds, and dreamland print are... Nothing new. We saw the same general theme on the Rearz Daydreamerz, the only real thing that gets this one notch higher than them is that they're pink rather than purple.
Discreetness: 7/10. Most L4B dips are generally very discreet because they're smaller and thinner than most premium dips. Since these follow the trend of overnight protection that many brands have been buying into, they are a little larger than other L4B dips, but they're still definitely small enough to wear under sweats, skirts/dresses, or other large/baggy/flowy clothes in public with really no concern of anyone finding out. The cloth backing decreases the noise immensely, and you can pretty reasonably adjust the tabs in a public bathroom without garnering any questions.
Cost: 6/10. The downside to being both hook and loop and having more capacity than other dips on their website is that they will cost more. Not that much more expensive, but enough that I had to adjust my budget. For reference, most of their dips are $40 for a pack of 10, these are $46 for a pack of 10. Even buying in full cases, it's an additional $60, which for some could be an additional $60 each month. A bit pricey, but if you love em, you love em.
Absorbency: 10/10. For L4B, this is a pretty high scorer. Based solely on capacity, it would've been an 8/10, but there is something to be said for the speed at which these absorb everything and how well it holds everything in. They hold about 7L, which is L4B's highest capacity, but compared to other dips in the overnight category like the Omutsu's, Dreamerz, or MegaMaxes, it struggles a little to compete. With that being said, I also am of the opinion that having too much capacity can be a big downside. As someone who does not participate in messing, there is a critical point or two in each day where I simply must change myself due to needing to go number 2 (and I'm not particularly in the business of putting used dips back on). That tends to mean that the super absorbent, high capacity dips end up underutilized, leading to lost cost. These sit right at a pretty optimal capacity to last most of my day without feeling like I'm wasting half the dip. But that's not what gets them the 10/10. Those last two points come from L4B solving the reliability problem in two ways.
- Have you ever seen those commercials for baby diapers where they show brightly coloured water being poured into an open diaper and instantly being absorbed by the diaper (usually comparing to another brand that doesn't absorb as quick)? These genuinely absorb everything super quick. The second I tried out, I really tried to flood them and make them leak, and they did eventually, but due to capacity, not flow. This is what I referred to in Comfort, it's a weird sensation for the dip to wick it all away faster than usual while expanding much quicker as well. Not a bad sensation at all, but certainly different.
And 2. Sitting down. Most people here have probably had the thing happen where they've got a pretty wet one on, then went to sit down on the floor, couch, desk chair, etc, and you can feel the pressure of you sitting down on the dip squeeze out some of the pee, creating the dreaded crescent moons on their pants/skirt/dress and seat. Whatever material L4B is using to boost these dips capacity is also locking in everything better. I don't weigh a lot, but I can sit down on a hardwood floor without issue until it's almost completely full. It will squeeze out eventually, but not until it's almost leaking out to begin with.
All in all, as much as I'm not wow-ed by the design or thrilled about the higher cost, these are simply fantastic dips ~for me~. Please take all this as you will, everyone's preference is different, and you may feel very differently about these than I. But as for me, I these are in high contention for my daily wear. (And if L4B wants to convince me by sending me a case, I certainly wouldn't say no ❤️)
