Peer at my college made a comment condoning brutal violence against SWers during meeting
I am just so … disgusted. A student org I’m apart of at my college, we had our final meeting of the year. And during our lunch the group brought up their favorite true crime stories (🙄), and one of the *men* brought up Jack the Ripper and him never being identified as one of his “favorite cases,” who then followed it with “and if anything even if he was he’d be thanked for cleaning up the streets.” To which another male student member laughed following it with, “yeah thanks Jack the Ripper for getting pr0stit*tes off the streets.” If you know anything about Jack the Ripper, it’s by far one of the most brutal and disturbing serial killer cases maybe ever. And yes, he targeted primarily SWers.
The worst part is that no one said anything. The advisors were sitting right there and did not intervene. I sent a message in our orgs chat with the advisors + everyone else saying that this is crossing a serious line and we must hold ourselves to higher standards as student leaders given the student body is comprised of many different walks of life and that condoning the murder of a marginalized community is not okay. No one responded …. just read it. Just so sickening
