We recently went abroad for two weeks and stayed in three separate apartments. The first day i was locked and then my wife managed somehow to loose the key in the apartment, it was found 6 days later when we were at our third stay and i was washing some dirty clothes. I still was not let out though. The scary part, she wasnt really to concerned despite my panic saying oh well it will turn up somewhere we definitely haven’t lost it. I really thought i was going to have to go through customs with my cage on as it has an integral lock
