Is it true that most escorts don't actually like their clients?

I recently did a podcast with a former escort I used to see )don't ask what it is because I'm not going to say). During the conversation, I mentioned that I always thought we got along well. I wasn't saying she liked me romantically, just that I thought she liked me as a person.

She surprised me by saying she didn't. She explained that being warm, friendly, and engaging was just part of the job, and that most sex workers don't actually like their clients on a personal level.

It honestly caught me off guard because I'd interpreted our interactions differently.

Is that generally true? Even if a client is respectful and a regular, do most escorts still not actually like them as people? Or was she just speaking from her own experience?

For the record some of the reasons she gave was:

  • I could be a bit arrogant and acted like I knew more than I did.
  • I asked too many personal questions and it felt like I was trying to get to know the real her instead of respecting that she was at work.
  • Our personalities just didn't click. She found me boring and our conversations felt like work.

Also to be clear, I asked her to be super honest in the interview.
