I’ve recently been reading Paolo Freire’s ‘Pedagogy of the oppressed’ and while there are many points made and I think it’s a great book. The thing that has stuck with me most is the idea of critical consciousness. The only way to truly learn is to challenge your own views. However, in a classroom full of sociology students no one really challenges feminist theory or debates it. Either because as a general rule most sociologists are feminists or left wing or because they are too scared to challenge the popular opinion and the opinion of the lecturer.

Any to get to the point I’d like to have a discussion or a debate about feminism.

Why is it that every time I go out with my friends and we try to have a good night at the club men insist on pinching our asses or much worse? I don’t remember one night I’ve been to the club where one of my girlies doesn’t end up getting harassed or worse.

Someone please just explain why this keeps happening to me!
