Is anal play genuantly not for me or have I just not tried it correctly?

Hello everyone. The title pretty much speaks for itself, but I want to add three bits of context: I'm not gay, but more of a straight leaning bicurious - if a guy is my type and we vibe, I would not mind getting close to them, but I'm mostly into girls and haven't dated guys yet. I've also had a lot of gay friends so some of that has definitely rubbed off on me. Lastly, I'm a chronic porn addict. Take a smoker that has been addicted for more than a decade and wants to quit but can't because that's their only vice, and replace smoking with porn, this is a bit of a conflicted place I am right now, so take it with a grain of salt.

Back to the topic at hand. Years ago when I was younger I got a bit too curious and impulsively purchased a bunch of sex toys, most of which now collect dust. One of those toys was a prostate massager that I was really excited for because everyone online hailed it and said that it's the best thing you can get for anal and prostate stimulation, but when I tried it it felt very... Eh? I couldn't get the thing past a certain point and it kept spilling out no matter what I did. When it hit the far wall I couldn't figure out how to get it past at all and it felt uncomfortable. When I did hit the prostate (or at least I think I did) it felt like I was reaching in the back of my throat with my finger to scratch my uvula, which was not meant to be scratched. When I looked online I've read that it's either not for you at all or it feels extremely good, so I don't know what to think about it.

The buttplug was nice though. It was regular sized with no curves and I have no complaints about it, but it's a shame I can't use it more often because of my diet and slow bowels.

Now it's years later and I am wondering if I want to give things another go, but differently. Maybe buying a dildo or a different plug. For the experts in the group: what do you think? And if I should buy the toys, then what size should I *not* get? Or is it actually not for me? Or it's just the wrong way to go entirely? Thank you
