PSA: Be on the lookout for a new cure that helps with withdrawal insomnia!
I had the worst case of restlessness and insomnia after quitting fent/oxy/7 and subsequently using SR for far too long.
The restlessness and insomnia lasted for >2 months and I was going crazy. Gabapentin, Xanax, melatonin, Ropinirole, Clonidine, magnesium, NyQuil, Doxylamine, etc. Tried it all. Nothing worked. Legs (whole body actually) still went crazy at night.
Then I went on a trip to Asia where a friend working in pharma hooked it up with this new insomnia drug called Dayvigo (lemborexant).
It didn’t take the restlessness away, but it knocked me out in spite of the restlessness.
This is apparently a new class of drug called dual orexin receptor antagonists that essentially knocks out the “wakefulness” molecule in the brain rather than agonizing GABA or opioid receptors. As a result, there is minimal withdrawal / dependence risk and no high associated. You just pass out.
Furthermore, there seems to be some evidence of it helping with next day cravings as well!
