There’s too steep a drop-off in flavor after the first heat up, so trying to figure out the best technique for native one heat extraction. If I take long pulls, am I removing too much heat at once? Should I be taking shorter puffs if I want to fully extract in one heatup? I keep the head at 50% airflow and flutter the airport. Running 2.5mm gem cut rubies.
I’m trying to dial in my Quartz Cap Mini using as much conduction heating as possible with a single flame Dyna-style torch. I’m thinking I should preheat the bowl without the cap for like 7-10 seconds. Not sure what’s the best cap to use (of the 3 it came with) or how long to heat. And should l let it sit for a little after heating before I hit it? Any Quartz Mini experts out there?????
Anyone mix ball types with their Tempest 2? If so, what’s your recipe? Layers or mixed? Considering mixing stock zirc with 2.5 gem cut rubies. Not sure it makes a huge difference but I’m enjoying playing mad scientist with my Tempest. There are so many different ways to configure this thing. At first it all felt a little overwhelming but now I’m really digging the experimentation aspect.
Dialed in the YLL at lower wattage, 60-70w. The head high is really nice but lacking in body high and sedation. I dig the high but sometimes it can be a little “thinky” and I want to turn the brain off sometimes. And I’ve noticed this affect with sedative strains that have been stonier in other devices. Will ramping up to 100 watts produce a stonier high? Or is this just a matter of conduction vs. convection and the temp won’t affect the high? I guess I always have my Dyna for conduction. I’m looking for a joint-like flavor-forward session. Would coarse or medium grind be better? Would it even make a difference? Also, what would be the best cap airflow setting for this? I have it 50% open currently. Thx
Been using a clothespin and leather sleeve. I know about the Mad Heaters case and Reload but I’m looking for just a decapper. Wish I could just buy that part of the case. Looking for something that doesn’t rely on strong magnets, ideally.
I’m seeing some people claim that Shinju balls are the exact same as Zirc, while others claim Shinju is a significant upgrade in terms of flavor and heat retention. I just ordered Shinjus from D-Nail for my Tempest 2 but I’m wondering if I just paid money for exactly what the thing already came with. Anyone?
I have my depth set for my Tempest 2 at 4mm. Can I use my Convector at this depth? With a torch, I only hit the very top of the sides of the cap, so worried the T2 setting will be too deep. I’d prefer to not

Anyone try Shinju balls with their T2? I’m looking for the best balls for long sessions. I don’t care about OHE and big clouds, just looking to chill and puff away leisurely. Would Shinju work for this? Any other suggestions?
I have a T2 on an XL dovetail stem with an airport. Can I leave the airport open when running dry through a small bubbler? It just seems like it would be a pain to cover the airport while managing everything else. I have the cap set to half open and would prefer to leave it there since that’s my preferred setting for native. So would cap half open, airflow open work with dry glass?
So I’m new to TEDs. I got a Camouflet Convector v2 and I’m trying to use it with a TRWW stem, mouthpiece and cooling spiral. For the life of me, I can’t figure out how to fit it together like in the picture. The spiral just falls out the mouthpiece if I put the tabs up toward the cap and it doesn’t fit if I put the tabs down toward the mouthpiece. Please help an idiot out!
