In the world of Hellas, monsters still roam in the dark, and humanity answered not with mercy... but creation. The Wardens are humans altered through dangerous magic and reshaped into living weapons. Each is marked by a subtype tied to old myth: shifters, damens, eldritch beings, witches, and more. They were made to hunt the things that ordinary people could not survive.
In doing so, they became proof that the line between protector and monster had been crossed. At the center of this system stands the Hold, a guarded stronghold that serves as headquarters, academy, prison, and a proving ground for Wardens.
It is here that young Wardens are sent by default - whether born of Warden blood or newly made through ritual and force. They are trained to master violent instincts within its walls, endure brutal expectations, and take on the hunts that keep Hellas safe.
Some are proud to serve. Others resent the purpose carved into their blood. Few escape what the Hold was built to make of them. Though the Hold is said to stand apart from the powers of the surrounding provinces, it remains under the authority of the Lord High Marshal-Director of Warden Affairs and Containment. They are a human appointed by the provinces of Hellas to oversee Warden life and labor. High ranks remain largely human, while Wardens are treated as dangerous assets first and people second. They are expected to serve. Those who refuse are sentenced to death.
