I found this comment under a commentary video about porn‘s effects on the current generation. I’m in a writing mood, so here goes.

There is a saying that sex sells, but some folks are ardent non-paying customers and want to rope others into their mindset. The mocking of people who pay for porn has always been a strange take to me. We spend money on music, movies, TV shows, books, comics, games and streaming services when it can all be found for “free“ elsewhere.

However, you never see anyone thinking that it’s ‘crazy’ or ‘wild’ to pay for the right to access and own these other forms of entertainment. But let’s not stop there… why pay for food when you can go to the nearest dumpster and get some chow out of there for free?

So, why is porn singled out? More importantly, why is it that people who actively consume porn are the same ones refusing to see it as something worth paying for? What’s their thought process? I believe it falls between entitlement, not respecting the medium, and perhaps even shame.

The Entitlement:

Most people’s experience with porn probably started without them having to pay for it. The first time I watched porn, it was on HBO and Cinemax after 11 PM. Can’t forget the Girls Gone Wild commercials on Spike TV, to think how horny I was for blurred out titties… good times.

Once I finally got a computer, I discovered tube sites and the Freeones database. I couldn’t pay for porn because of my age, so I took what I could get from what was made available for “free”... that being a mix of official content uploaded by the studios and unauthorized uploads of full-length videos, not that I knew the difference until later.

So, the entitled porn user is used to porn being free. They don’t understand the concept of buying it when there’s so much at their fingertips and feel that’s how should be, not realizing that someone had to pay for what they’re watching if it wasn't an official upload.

I was in this camp when younger until a pornstar by the name of Lady Fyre put me in my place. I found one of her videos and uploaded it on a tube site. The Disrespect:

Some viewers of porn are weird in the sense that they find value in what it offers them, but at the same time have no respect for the medium or the performers. Rather than see it as meaningful or purposeful (e.g. a safe way to explore sexual desires, fantasies, self-gratification, etc.), it is treated as disposable, something to use up until it fulfills its purpose and is then discarded.

These types don’t view pornstars as people, are likely misogynists and see the profession itself as something to look down on. To them, they’re above paying for something that doesn’t live up to their idea of respectable... but yet they can’t turn away from it.

The shame:

These guys probably would buy porn but choose not to because it’s not seen as normal to do thanks to the rhetoric of others mentioned above. They might feel embarrassed because their peers would make fun of them. Hell, they’d probably even mock them for downloading porn, because for some asinine reason people don’t understand why anyone would want to download it, as if it’s some kind of ancient practice of a bygone culture, like lost media isn’t a thing. 🤦‍♀️ The purge of Pornhub and XTube alone resulted in so much content being lost forever.

My Thoughts:

Paying for porn is no different than paying for any other medium you enjoy. If in fact you do find genuine value in something—and that includes porn—then you should pay for it if you can afford to do so. It’s worth it. For one, you get to contribute to the industry, your favorite studio, director or performer. Secondly, no hopping around different sites with ads to watch uploads in worse quality. Instead, you get the real deal straight from the source, full access to everything including updates and fast downloads.

Crazy? Not a chance. Peace of mind is what I call it. ‘Big Wet Asses 34‘ by Elegant Angel just came out last weekend and it was an instant buy for me. I like their productions and have no problem paying for it.
