The quiet girl from my building took control in the dark
I still can’t get her out of my head.
There’s this girl from my building, Aanya. We’ve only spoken a few times in the lift. She’s the polite, soft-spoken type. Always in simple clothes, headphones on, never gives much eye contact.
Three nights ago the power went out in our society. I was coming down the stairs with a candle when I saw her standing on my floor, looking a little lost. I offered her to wait in my flat till the lights came back.
She came in. We talked for a bit in the dark. Then somehow the conversation turned and she went quiet. After a minute she just said, “Can I tell you something I shouldn’t?”
I still don’t know what made her trust me that night. But what she did after that… I wasn’t ready for it.
She didn’t want the lights on. She didn’t want me to speak much either. She just took control in a way I never expected from someone who looks so reserved.
We’ve met twice since then. Both times late at night. Both times she leaves before morning and acts completely normal if we cross each other in the society.
