Clubs don’t value their dancers or employees

What is it with clubs never valuing the staff and dancers who breathe life into them??

I recently left my old club due to a change in management, where the new guy literally ruined the club. The long-term, beloved, reliable manager was shoved onto the back burner, and they brought in a new guy from Miami who EGREGIOUSLY overhired and made it impossible to earn money individually. The ratio of dancers to customers was constantly so off that you would pay house fee just to sit alone all night, hoping for an opportunity to talk to a customer. We’re in the Midwest in a slow, ghetto, blue-collar club. Having 30+ girls on a weeknight or a multi-stage rotation where no money is being thrown is just embarrassing. I worked there making good money for years, and watched it slowly decline to the point it wasn’t even worth showing up anymore. They didn’t care that the majority of us were making nothing, as long as they got to collect our house fees, and someone would inevitably sell a VIP for them to take a 40% cut. The club continued doing fine financially, it was the individual dancers who suffered.

Obviously I had no choice but to leave, so a few months ago I moved to a new club. Things have been better there, the ratio of girls to customers is proportionate, and the manager is cool. He and the other staff take so much more consideration for the dancers than what I normally see nowadays. Everything has been looking up, then the other night he told me that it would be my last shift working with him. He went on to explain that he is taking another job because he has managed at the club for over a year, yet they are still paying him less than what he would earn as an entry-level employee elsewhere for far less work. It’s sad to see him go, but I completely understand. I’m worried now that the same thing will happen here that happened at my last club. I’ve never seen an honest person work out as a club manager, it’s always the sinister ones who thrive at the expense of the dancers. These clubs are just like their customers. Cheap, greedy, and always seeking new hires who are willing to do more for less.
