I have a stricture and ended up having a catheter placed. Unfortunately I won't be 6 months post op until October. By then it'll be the holiday season and I doubt I will be able to get urethralplasty until after the holidays. I will probably have this catheter for the remainder of the year. It barely been 10 days since having the catheter and the spasms are killing me. I drink a lot of water, I take 2 antispasm medications and also stool softeners. I tried using a valve but honestly it just stresses me out since I can't tell if my bladder is full or if its just a spasm. I remember having a suprapubic catheter my 1st month post op but I don't remember the pain being this bad. Sometimes I honestly can't sit, stand, or even lay down. Nothing I do helps me be comfortable. My mom told me that the first 2 weeks I was on pain killers and thats probably why I didn't even get bothered by the catheter.

Please tell me it gets better. Do the spasms calm down after the 1st month?

Im 4 months post op and have been dealing with pain from the moment I started peeing. At three months I had a cytoscopy and was told they didn't see a stricture but that I did have a polyp, which could be explaining the pain/pressure I was feeling. Anyway something super weird ended up happening 3 days after my cytoscopy. Basically my urethra got blocked twice once for a second or two and once for 5ish seconds and after that my stream was really slow. After a week though my stream got better but now I had to strain at the end of my stream. I also had been dealing with constant UTIs from the moment I was 3 months post. Im talking one almost every week. I was so frustrated and struggling to pee that they scheduled another cytoscopy/potential catheter placement. My urologist literally said hey if you do have a stricture I would suggest we just place a catheter and I agreed. I know its for the best but goddammit if I didn't start sobbing when I woke up and realized I have a catheter and therefore a stricture. I guess i was just really hoping it was the polyp. Im just so tired. Im only 4 month post op and I've already dealt with necrosis, wound separation, a fistula and now a fucking stricture. I feel like I have to fucking pee ever since I woke up. They gave me bladder spasms meds but it doesn't seem to be doing much.

I have to go back to work on friday. Im concerned about having to work with it in, luckily I have a desk job so hopefully it won't be bad. This just sucks ass.

I had stage one rff with scrotoplasty, vaginectomy, and UL at the beginning of april. From the moment I started peeing without a catheter I would feel pain, this was around 1 month postop. It feels like pressure. Like my urethra somewhere is to small/swollen and it hurts. The strange thing is that every once in a while the pain goes away or isn't as bad. Sometimes im able to press behind my scrotum and the pain lessens. Im still able to pee quickly and empty my bladder, but i keep stressing out about developing a stricture and not being able to pee. My urologist said she wasn't worried as long as I can empty my bladder and my stream is good. I have a cytoscopy at the end of June, so I'll know sooner or later.

Just curious if is this normal healing? How long did you experience pain while peeing after UL? Did the pain end up being a stricture or swelling?

Hello, im only 2 months post-op so I know a lot can change and im still healing. I was told by my surgeon that my burial would be at the base of my dick but I noticed my burial is between my dick and my scrotum. Im not going to lie im a bit bummed out but im trying not to stress out about it. I can jerk my dick a little and feel a sensation but I don't feel the sensation coming from my dick. I only feel something because I inadvertently move the skin between my dick and scrotum. I feel like there is a disconnect between my dick and where my burial is at. Like my brain know its not my dick that is getting the sensation. That disconnect is really disheartening.

I was just wondering about other people and their experience with burial? For people who didn't get their burial at the base of their dick what has your experience been like as you heal? Have you been able to cum? Has sensation spread to your dick?

Im writing this to vent but I would appreciate words of advice/encouragement. Also i know realistically all of my problems are fixable/manageable but its frustrating when they feel so constant.

It feels like I take 1 step forward and 2 steps back all the time. First it was ohh sorry the flap we took from your arm wasn't big enough so we had to close it with a graft. Okay cool whatever as long as everythings okay. Woah look all those weird blisters and welts that are forming on your freshly post op dick. Oh damn luckily it was just an allergic reaction but now my dick is covered in welts and is super swollen, cool. Then at 2 weeks postop theres a black splotch on the graft site and its spreading. Guess what? Yup thats necrosis. Okay that sucks but it seems superficial I just have to let my body heal. Ohh look you somehow managed to pop all the stitches on the underside of your dick leading to wound separation. Damn I mean its still connected to my crotch so im sure it'll heal.

Ohh look things are finally looking up your starting to pee from your dick and your catheter is being removed and the necrosis and wound separation is healing. Wouldn't it be a shame if something happened? BAM Fistula. Guess where the fistula developed? Yup in the open wound left by the necrosis sloughing off. Wow the universe surely has sense of humor but its a tiny little Fistula and your peeing okay and it'll heal. Oh you have a terrifying fear that your developing a stricture because of a constant pinching/pressure sensation you get when you pee? Let's make it worse by giving you a UTI, and feeding into the idea that you have a stricture even more. You know, what its going to be fine I just got my antibiotics and when I take them I'll start feeling better. Mmm....nope. im on day 4 of the antibiotics and my symptoms do not feel any better they are the same. I can't even drink a glass of water without peeing every 20 minutes and the pinching/pressure sensation has gotten worse, like how it was when I was first peeing. Wow thats great I'll just give it a bit of time and if the symptoms don't go away at the end of 7 days I'll let my urologist know. Thats a pretty solid plan wouldn't it be a shame if: BAM SAME FISTULA. EVEN THOUGH IT CLOSED A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO ITS BACK.

I think what make everything even more worse is that I kinda hate the way my dick looks. The graft they used to close everything, makes my dick curve to the left. Not only that but my dick isn't even 4 inches And I think because they used a graft instead of arm flap its even scrawnier girth wise. To make matters worse my dick isn't centered on my crotch. Yup you read that right they had to move it a little to the right so they could connect it or something. I put my entire life on hold for phalloplasty. I stayed at a shitty job I hated after I graduated college for phalloplasty. I moved back in with my parents for phallo. I decided to put a hold on my masters degree for phallo. Im barely 2 months postop I know that everything is still super swollen and maybe I'll gain length and it'll straighten but im just so tired. I just want to be done with "healing". I little part of me regrets putting myself through this. I just keep thinking if I hadn't gotten phallo I probably would be starting a new job. I'll be peeing stress free and not hyperanalyzing my pee stream while wincing in pain from a relentless UTI.

I KNOW IT'LL GET BETTER BUT FOR NOW EVERYTHING JUST SUCKS.

Im 5 weeks post op and developed necrosis on the underside of my dick a while back. I read online that medihoney can be helpful for necrosis since it encourages Autolytic Debridement. Im going to send a message to my surgeon but I was curious if anyone has had experience with medihoney and necrosis.
