The pool is so warm thanks to the heat wave

We've really enjoyed the long weekend and taking photos in the pool. Very relaxing.

From our private open-air onsen in Hakone, Japan

We also used the public onsen (hot spring baths) in our ryokan hotel, but obviously no photos from there. We enjoyed both so much. I cannot tell you how relaxing it is. If you ever get the chance to visit an onsen, do so.

Bathing at the Onsen - Hakone, Japan (Makina 670 + Kentmere 400 at 800, Contax RX + 50mm f1.4 + HP5)

The two detail shots are on the Contax RX. The rest are from the Makina.

Working on some new ideas. Remind me to never shoot HP5 underwater again. You think I would learn by the third time, but apparently I'm an idiot (Nikonos V + 20mm f2.8 + and HP5 for some dumb reason)

Long story short - I've done this before and knew it was a bad idea. For some reason HP5 looks like 24-grit sandpaper underwater. A little grain is good, but HP5 goes completely insane underwater.

I think it's because underwater is pretty low contrast. HP5 is low contrast too. Add the two together and you get no contrast. Then you expand the contrast in post and the grain gets expanded too.

Tmax 400 is the way forever more.

Just some recent highlights from a recent session with Ayeonna Gabrielle. I was testing a new-to-me Minilux, so I decided to toss that into the mix as well. Tmax 400 pushed 1 stop if you're curious. More can be found in my Reddit profile.

A series from a recent trip to California. Captured on a mix of three cameras - Fuji GFX 100ii + 55mm digital, Hasselblad H1 + 100mm film, and a cheap 1984 Canon point & shoot.

Let me know if you have a favorite? I'm still undecided on some. Or let me know if you have questions.
