[LFO] Complacency hurts
There's many steps to safety, and it's usually never just one thing you have to keep in mind. I was drilling into a piece of wood with a 1 inch paddle bit and just holding the wood by hand. Also sitting next to the wood was a hatchet. The paddle bit grabbed the wood due to a nail, spun, and smacked the hatchet towards me, and it flew down into my knee.
I should have:
Secured the wood with a clamp
Removed the hatchet from the area
Put the hatchet into its sheath
Checked the wood for any nails that would cause binding
Thought my process through
Instead, I got complacent and just figured it's one hole, I'll drill it and be onto the next thing. I'm super disappointed in myself bc two days ago my finger was bit by a Sawzall bc I got complacent.
