One would think that after years of being “professional” nude beach visitors, we would be better at filtering out the right ones. Let us explain.. 😄

Domaine du Coq Rouge is a small, family-run naturist campsite in Collonges-la-Rouge, in the Corrèze region of southern France, with around forty pitches and under thirty rental accommodations set on a hillside above the Dordogne valley. What sets it apart is the accommodation: bubble domes for stargazing, wooden tipis, Maori and Inuit-style tents, eco-lodges, and cottages on stilts with valley-view terraces, all built into the landscape rather than lined up like a standard holiday park.

Nearly 50 hectares of domain, about 400 camping pitches and roughly 350 different rentals. It does sound pretty overwhelming, right? We imagine that some of you now think “Wow, maybe that’s just a bit too much for me…”. Especially if you’re used to visiting smaller naturist clubs or campgrounds, where distances are short, and everyone knows who you are after just a few hours, those numbers might all but attract you.

It is a fact that Arna, as the locals call it, is one of the largest naturist resorts in Europe, with up to 2 500 guests every single day during the summer months. Yet, when we were there, it never really felt that way.

Oh, the shock it must have been… You arrive at this naturist resort, ready for a week with not a single piece of clothing in sight. You walk into the reception desk, and the first thing you see is a row of very friendly but also very clothed receptionists. Didn’t the brochure say that nudity was expected throughout the resort whenever the weather permits? Then why does this not apply to the staff?

Here's why Florida is America's Nudist Capital

Florida has more clothing optional options than anywhere else in the United States, from Haulover Beach in Miami to dozens of naturist resorts across Pasco County. Haulover is the most famous nude beach in America, ranked in the world's top 10, and it pulls in over a million visitors a year (up to 7,000 people on a busy day). Inland, Pasco County alone has around 13 nudist resorts, and the whole tradition here goes back to German immigrants who arrived in the 1930s.
