Here's why Florida is America's Nudist Capital

Florida has more clothing optional options than anywhere else in the United States, from Haulover Beach in Miami to dozens of naturist resorts across Pasco County. Haulover is the most famous nude beach in America, ranked in the world's top 10, and it pulls in over a million visitors a year (up to 7,000 people on a busy day). Inland, Pasco County alone has around 13 nudist resorts, and the whole tradition here goes back to German immigrants who arrived in the 1930s.

The Clothes-Free Landscape

Clothes-free travel in Italy is mostly a coastal affair. The country’s long, varied shoreline delivers everything from wild Sardinian dune beaches to small rocky coves in Liguria, and the options keep expanding as local municipalities designate more official nude areas.

We remember how much we were blown away when we first visited Corsica. The island had never really been on our radar. Because, honestly, how good could it really be? 🤭

Our new Destination Clothes Free website is getting into shape. It’s been online for roughly a month (if you include the early access on Patreon), and many of you have already taken a few looks. Thanks a lot for that!

Some of you also had a few questions. Very fair ones, because we have made a few choices that are probably not that obvious at first sight. Why are we using the term “clothes-free” and not the obvious “naturist” or “nudist”? Who is this website for? Is it a blog like Naked Wanderings? And the one that everyone wants to know but few dare to ask: Are resorts paying us for a page on Destination Clothes Free?

France has more dedicated clothes-free campsites than any other country in the world, over 250 of them, spread from the Atlantic coast to the Mediterranean. To make sense of all that choice, the French star rating system (managed by Atout France, the national tourism authority) grades every naturist campsite against nearly 200 criteria and re-evaluates it every five years. This is an official government standard, not a self-reported score, which makes it genuinely useful when you're planning a clothes-free camping trip in France.
