I'll be heading to Bare Oaks tomorrow for a week trip spanning across the weekend, when it turns out that they're holding the FCN at the park. This was just a happy accident and I didn't plan for it.

This is only my second visit to a naturist park (last time was Bare Oaks as well, almost exactly last year) and my first time with any kind of event like this. I searched for information online as to what the event will actually literally consist of but haven't found much including on FCN's own webpage as well as Bare Oaks' event calendar.

I'm curious if anyone here has been to prior events? Were they all held at Bare Oaks? Do they usually follow a certain formula? What were previous events like in your experience?

I plan to spend winter in Chaco del Palo (Lazarote, Canary Islands, Spain). I’ve looked at rental prices and they’re between sixty and 120 euros per day online. That means that six months is roughly between 10 thousand and 20k euros for six months. Either there’s a whole different pricing structure for long-term rentals (in which case, how do I get in contact with somebody?) or it starts to make more sense to actually consider buying.

Can somebody fill me in? I’m sure at least somebody here knows about the place…

I've been building a map of clothing optional spots and I finally have enough of Europe in it to put the countries side by side. Here is where it landed.

Legally clothing optional: Germany 192, Croatia 50, Netherlands 45, France 41, Italy 23, Austria 19, Spain 18, Portugal 13, Switzerland 7, Czechia 6, Sweden 6, Hungary 5, Denmark 3, Norway 2, Greece 2, Slovenia 1.

Then another 2,068 that are tolerated by custom rather than officially designated. That second category is where the map changes shape completely. Greece has 2 official and 141 tolerated. France has 41 official and 394. Spain has 18 and 270. Croatia has 50 and 421.

Croatia is the one I keep staring at. 471 spots across both categories, in a country of about four million people. That works out to roughly 120 per million residents. Germany, with all of its FKK reputation, is around 9 per million. Nothing else on the list is close.

Two honest caveats. This comes from public mapping data, so it partly measures how well a country is mapped rather than what is actually on the ground. And I have not personally been to most of these, which is the reason I'm posting rather than publishing.

So where is yours, and what does this list get wrong? I'm most interested in the countries sitting at 2 and 3, because I don't believe Denmark and Greece have a handful between them. And if you go somewhere regularly that isn't the famous one in your country, that's the answer I'd most like to read.

A few weeks ago, my partner Corin wrote about how men can help women feel safer in naturist spaces. It got a lot of support but also some pushback in the comments, and I sat with a lot of it before writing anything back.

This piece is my side. Where I think some of the criticism actually had a point, and where I think it revealed exactly the thing it was trying to deny.

I mean mostly as it applies to life in general but it applies to naturism in the same sort of way. Any time I engage in an interest that makes me happy I get really hyperactive and kind of come off a bit tweaky and eccentric. I have really bad ADHD and some other things but I'm honestly always good intentioned and just want to make friends.

Naturism is still new to me and I like it a lot so of course it makes me excited but I don't want that to be interpreted as weird for any number of reasons. I'm not really worried about going back and being given a hard time or anything, I'm heading to bare oaks tomorrow and it's a pretty accepting place as far as my last experience was, but I mostly kept to myself that time.

I'd like to engage socially more this time but am more afraid I'll feel too awkward and just keep to myself. Last time a few people struck up conversations with me but not many. I'm kind of just hoping it happens more on its own. I'll be there for a week so it'd be nice to hang out with someone for a couple days, especially since it looks like it's going to rain most of the time I'm there.

I am a 33F living in Sweden (originally from a country more south). 6 years ago I met a wonderful Swedish man (now 44M) and decided to move to Sweden to live with him and marry him. He already had two kids (11m and 13f). We have a 3 year old together.

The attitude towards nudity in this family has always been VERY relaxed. I don't think my husband would call himself a naturist, but. Noone covers up for anyone. Bathroom door is always open. People walk through the house in all stages of undress. It took some getting used to at first but now I love it. It's summer now and we spend lots of time naked in the garden. We swim naked in a nearby lake. I don't think about being nude anymore, which is a great feeling.

Now, this has been going on unproblematically for some years.

Lately, I have noticed that my stepson started covering up in my presence. This in turn made me feel very self-consciouss. I talked to my husband about it, he said he hadn't noticed any change but that he would talk to him. Later he said that his son is fine with everyone else being nude but he wants to decide himself how he wants to dress. Which is totally fine of course! However, I can't shake the feeling that maybe he is just being polite, and also my own feeling of freedom is actually influenced by this somehow, I am getting more aware of when I am naked or not. (I don't want to put any guilt on him of course!)

During all this, my stepdaughter has been totally fine and not changing her attitude a bit.

Now, I know what people are going to say, this happens with teenagers when they go through puberty, they'll come around, etc etc. I just wanted to see if any of you had some insight to make this go as smooth as possible
