Okay, so maybe this isn't meme enough for here, but I see so many times people get hung up on the whole "Sapient pets" aspect of this setting. The quote is from "How to Train Your Terran" by Edgar Allen Floeret (Moth_Priestess) and Moth_Priestess. The quote is this:

"We’re all already pets. I was the admirals little pet, and the pet of their corporate puppetmasters. They used me like an attack dog. They treated me like what I was - gutter trash that had crawled up into their fancy galas, needing a leash so tight it strangled me lest I get in the way of their profit margins. I’d rather be your pet. The terrifying monsters that would rather take care of everything for us than let us suffer for a single instant…"

I personally feel like even in our current era this is true. We are all unwilling and mistreated pets of those who have power over us. Under our current economic system, no one is really free. If you can't work, you are told that you are worthless and deserve to be homeless. If you can work, you have to put up with feralists who think that gender is set at birth and love is only to be between a man and a woman.

Is it any surprise that those of us who have realized this think the idea of surrendering to our benevolent plamt mommies (and daddies and non-gendered plamts) is borderline paradise.
