[F4F] Falling For A Cryptid in an Old, Foggy Town
#Hi There!
I'm a seasoned writer with over a decade of experience writing both on my own and with other people. I'm looking for a partner who enjoys long-term, emotionally rich plots laced with slow-burn intimacy and high-stakes desire.
I consider myself advanced literate, typically write in 3rd person past tense, and prefer moving over to Discord to discuss and write if we click.
I'm not hung up too much on specific details or plots, as what I'm really looking for is a partner who's communicative, creative, and is as much a fan of writing stories with strong character-based and thematic cores as I am. The plot written below is just something I've had on my mind for a while~.
That doesn't mean I'm against writing smut, far from it (I'm aware of where I'm posting this :P), but I'm far more interested in writing compelling characters in a fascinating story and building intimacy and steaminess off of that. What I'm looking for is very much plot-with-porn, as opposed to the usual meaning of pwp.
#The Premise:
The town of Felthorpe resembles the spitting image of a stereotypical East-Coast small American town. It’s foggy, dim, but cozy in a weird way. The residents are friendly but not sociable, and everything faintly smells like fish but not enough to be worth pointing out. Besides, everyone who lives here has gotten used to it.
Someone who hasn't reached that point yet is Detective Charlene Woodsworth, though she definitely isn't a detective and still has trouble remembering that that's the name she's supposed to answer to.
The (not-) Detective's come here looking for leads on some kind of humanoid, cryptid-type creature. What she expects is something resembling the Jersey Devil or Arkansas Wild Man.
What she's not expecting is for the creature she's chasing to be fully sapient. Nor was she expecting to take care of it when she found it injured. She definitely wasn't expecting on falling for it her.
As for who that elusive "her" is? That's for you to decide. I look forward to hearing what you have in mind...
#Roles & Dynamic:
You'll play: This mysterious creature, whoever - and whatever- she is. I don't intend on stepping on the toes of whatever plans you have for her. Is she a mermaid? A witch of some kind? A fairy-type creature? A misplaced wendigo? Some mishmash of cryptids and fresh ideas?
Whatever she is, and whoever she is, all I ask is that she presents her own personality and potential themes and arcs to play with. And preferably not a vampire or werewolf. Sorry if that's what you were going for, but at this point I'm kind of saturated on them. I don't mind adjacent ideas, though!
I'll play: The not-Detective, maybe-Charlene, no-way-Woodsworth. I'd like to leave the majority of the character work to our discussions so we can properly have our two gals bounce off each other (stretch of an innuendo intended), but at her core she's a woman of science. A woman of curiosity, experimentation, dubious ethics, and surprising care for something someone she thought she'd be harpooning herself.
#Themes, Arcs, and Possible Kinks:
- Exploring and understanding each other (biologically, emotionally, and sexually)
- Cozying up and travelling in surreal environments
- Struggles between who they are, who they think they are, what they want to want, and what they want
- Touch-based supernaturality (intimacy enhances the paranormal/arcane)
- Confession-as-foreplay (emotional and literal)
- Rituals, shared baths, and dreamlike magic/supernaturality
I'd love for this to be dark and soft in turns, with both tenderness and tension. Whether they enjoy their fluffiness together or get separated by their choices in the grit, above all I want their story to feel earned.
If that sounds like your cup of tea, send me a chat!
I'm more than happy to discuss writing styles, plot points, kinks, etc. - my main priority is clearly communicating and writing an engaging story for both of us. We decide together who and how the characters are, who/what else shows up on their journey, and how their relationship is shaped by the world they find themselves in.
While this is technically a historical piece, here I’d prefer being quite loosey-goosey with the actual time period here. My inspirations for the vibe ranged from Moby Dick to Shadow Over Innsmouth, so that’s already about 70 years there. I have no problem borrowing little things from pre-1850 or post-1920 either, as long as it suits our subjective view of the story. And, of course, given that cryptic-adjacent creatures like Y/C exist, secret government experimental technology and obscure arcana can be as bendy as we like.
If the post isn’t marked as “closed” then I’d still love to hear from you, no matter when you’re reading this.
See you soon!
