Designer Bag Trap

When I first started dancing, I never had that much money coming in. I bought everything that I couldn’t afford before and this include many designer bags.

I’m nearing the end of my dancing career and taking stock of what I’ve accomplished in the last decade as a dancer. I have a couple of regrets… One of them is that I did not save enough. I have not bought a designer bag in about three years and while I’m going to hang on to the ones I have (about 30 of them bc resale wouldn’t get me enough to make it worth it) but did any other dancers fall into this trap?

I think to myself now how much I would rather have that money in my bank account or conservatively invested. The economy is volatile and we have Orangeshit in office for more than two years and things are going to get worse before they get better (if they ever will considering the AI takeover underway.) I mentally can’t handle dancing for much longer and I’m trying to get a vanilla job, but I’m worried about securing one that is well-paying enough that will not suddenly lay me off. It’s stressful and I would rather have that money for my peace of mind than a bunch of stupid bags. I’m thinking a lot of dancers might not know what to do with the huge influx of money we suddenly see coming in and might do dumb things until we know better.

I don’t even check websites for the prices of designer bag anymore, but I hear they are more expensive than ever… A few years ago they were crazy expensive so now I can’t imagine!

I inherited my mother’s home about 10 years ago which was paid off. She also left me with a savings for upkeep and utilities. I realize how lucky I am. I keep hearing about how hard it is to buy a home and people my age seem resigned that they will never become homeowners. I definitely wouldn’t if it wasn’t for this inheritance; I never ever seriously bothered looking. (If there’s one thing I wish I could go back and tell my younger baby stripper self it would be to save more… I learned that lesson way too late, even though I save prodigiously now).

So I’m curious about you ladies… We can make more than the average person. Have you guys bought homes (in your name, not your bf/SD) or realistically trying to? Renting absolutely sucked. That money goes straight to your landlord and lines their pockets. I realize however in this economy homeownership is a pipe dream for so many.
