My subblocade experience
I just wanted to document and hopefully help anyone who is curious. I was on suboxone for about five years after an addiction to pain killers. The last two years I was only on about .5 of the film. Like many others I tried for a long time to find a provider who administered the shot. With a lot of time and effort I finally found a doctor an hour away who specializes in subblocade. My insurance initially denied the shot but they handled and fought all of it for me. It took a few weeks max and they were able to get it all taken care of. I didn‘t have to pay anything.
I was very nervous for many reasons but especially because my doctor only starts with the loading dose of the 300mg shot. I was fearful this would be too powerful for me. They explained they have many patients in the same boat, only taking a small amount of subs and that the first shot should be 300mg no matter what.
24 hours ago I finally got the shot. It was definitely painful but nothing as bad as I thought. I didn’t numb or even ice before (just after). The pain only lasted about five minutes during/after. Not going to lie though, when I first felt it kick in I got a bit of nausea and felt a head rush. It quickly subsided and I do think a lot of it was my anxiety. After sitting in the office and icing for about 15 mins I was free to go. I felt great. It’s been 24 hours and while I do feel like I am on a heavy but clean dose of subs almost, I am having no side effects. I feel great. No nausea either. My deposit lump is actually smaller than I imagined. I am a 5’11 male and weigh 145lbs. I’m not bruised either. Minimal discomfort/soreness is all.
I am feeling super hopeful and positive. I will try and update everyone on how I feel as the weeks go by and if I get a second shot etc. I hope I encourage anyone who is considering this to do it and trust the process.
