Hey all!

One year. Honestly it flew by faster than I expected. What started as just an idea turned into something I'm genuinely proud of, and that's entirely because of everyone here who showed up, stuck around, gave feedback, reported bugs, and kept coming back. Thank you for that.

For those who don't know, I'm a solo dev working on GSL part time. It feels like full time though, because my actual full time job is WFH, which is why I'm able to spend more time building this. Lol, slacking on the full time job. I hope one day I can make GSL the full time gig.

And a special thank you to everyone supporting on Patreon. As the site keeps growing so do the expenses, and your support goes a long way. It genuinely means a lot.

Eligibility

Games must have received a new or playable update between Jan 1 2025 and Dec 31 2025. Some categories have exceptions, for example the Legacy Award.

Those reaction buttons on game pages are mainly for building your personal data and feeding into the recommendation algorithm. Now they also show a public sentiment score on the game page, similar to how Steam shows Overwhelmingly Positive or Mixed. You'll see something like "Very Positive" along with the total reaction count.

Also added new sorts: Most Positive, Most Loved, and Most Liked. If you want to dig past the popular games and find hidden gems, use the exclude popular games filter alongside these.

If you haven't been using the reaction buttons, now's a good time to start.

Pin a Favourite to Your Profile

You can now pin one favourite game to your profile to show others what you're all about.

Other Improvements

• Leaderboards and Analytics pages have been improved, worth a look
• Calendar gets an agenda view, and it's now the default on mobile since the full month view was too cluttered on smaller screens
• Big UI cleanup across the site, dropped a lot of the colourful elements for a quieter, cleaner look. A few pages are still left and will be updated soon.
• Performance work behind the scenes, should load faster and feel lighter overall

What's Coming

A few things on my mind for the future, nothing imminent but worth knowing.

GSL Desktop Companion App - Few of you asked about Playnite integration, not going that route. Thought why not build a dedicated GSL desktop app that works natively for GSL? Think auto playtime tracking, library sync, offline access, update notifier, Discord Rich Presence, etc. not anytime soon, site keeps me busy enough as it is, but it's definitely happening down the line, hopefully when I go full-time on this.

AI Features for the site - Smarter search, smarter recommendations, etc. Mentioned this before too, it's something I want to do but LLM costs are not pocket friendly so it has to wait until the finances make sense.

That's the plan anyway.
