Law School- Episode 5- Devlog #27
Morning everyone,
Last week went better than expected. I was hoping to spend less than ten days on the cutscene, and I actually wrapped it up on Sunday. Very pleased with how it looks and the weight it carries in the scene. The lip sync was good-ish at the start, but by the middle and towards the end I really nailed it, at least in my opinion. I'm getting more comfortable with the whole process.
I also had to convert my Genesis 8 MC (Connor) to a newer version of the model, Genesis 8.1. The morphs and controls for the lips, cheeks and jaw are just much better there. Lip syncing his lines with this version went a lot smoother, though expressions were trickier to manage since I wasn't used to the new controls. I'll only be using this version of Connor for cutscenes and keeping regular Genesis 8 for everything else.
I was pondering making cutscenes optional, with a toggle in the preferences screen, but seeing how they turn out, it hurts my heart a little bit lol. So we'll see about that.
I wasn't expecting to finish the cutscene yesterday, so I took the night off to reset mentally before diving into this week.
And it's going to be a busy one. Next Monday I'm flying back to my former country to handle a few remaining tasks before I can fully settle back in France. So the goal this week is to complete the next two scenes, a regular one and a massive one. After that comes another big scene, which realistically I won't finish before I leave. While I'm away I'll probably go over the script, re-read some scenes and rewrite bits here and there, fixing grammar issues and such. I should be back Thursday or Friday.
Anyway, let's talk numbers:
Static renders: 4,005
Animations: 171
Story content: 58 scenes written (60,395 words)
Nothing new except the animation count. The cutscene runs just over a minute and took 14 different animations to pull off. Very happy with the result.
The last scene I'll be animating heavily is the final LEWD scene of the episode, and it's a GREAT one. I've had it in my head for quite some time now, so I'm excited to finally bring it to life.
I'm hoping to finish all the remaining scenes before the end of July. I honestly think it's doable, even if those few days in Ireland will probably frustrate me a bit. Either way, I'll do my best to move on to postwork very soon.
That's it for this week's update. I'm getting back to work, and in the meantime, I wish you a good one.
