Nobody ever seems to advertise for it, but if a two-person RP is good, then a three-person has to be even better, right? So let me fix that by assembling you, me and a third so we can write some fantastic RP! Whether that’s fantasy, modern setting or a third cool idea we come up with together. A few tangible suggestions at the end of my post to whet your appetite and showcase the fun and chaotic possibilities!

Feel free to just skim the headers, the entire post is designed for it so there will be no passwords or hidden requirements.

But let’s address the elephant in the room. Two people will be twice as likely to ghost, right? You might get sidelined? Won’t it take super long to get responses? Fair criticisms, but I counter with this!

  • You'll never become sidelined.
    • I’ll throw an unreasonable amount of focus into making sure nobody feels like the side character. Spotlights are meant to be shared and I’ll make sure it is. I will literally bend my character in half before I allow you to be sidelined as the odd one out.
  • I don’t ghost
    • I talk things over rather than ghost. It is extremely unlikely I’ll vanish without a word and we’ll have a respectful and polite talk before it even gets to it from my end.
  • I respond daily
    • I aim for daily responses (often more). While a three-person RP will naturally add some waiting time because there is literally twice as much story being written between your responses, you won’t be waiting much extra on me. That said, I’m not demanding the same pace from you.
  • I’ll handle the logistics so you can focus on creativity
    • I get it, a three-person RP sounds like an organizational nightmare. It can be hard enough to get an RP off the ground with just one other person. But do not worry, I’m good at keeping a clear line on what needs doing before we launch the RP.

  • I’m communicative
    • Three people are a lot of moving parts and characters might step on each other or responses might not quite line up. That’s fine. I’m easy to talk to and we’ll simply talk it through and adjust as necessary.

The payoff will be worth it and the challenges will be overcome without much difficulty at all.

Reasons to trust me to pick a third:

  • I’m a surprisingly good natural filter!
    • It turns out very few people seek me out simply to get off, which means if you’ve got terrible luck with your own pool of RP partner candidates, you get to tap into my candidate pool!
  • I will talk the pairing over with you first
    • We'll get together, have a quick chat and before I ever introduce you to a third I'll go over some basics about them with you so we can make sure the match is even a reasonable one we should pursue. You’ll know who we’re bringing in and why before you meet them.

So now that we’ve established I will use the forbidden technique known as “communication” to make a match between you, me and a third! Here’s my spec sheet!

  • CEST/UTC+2 (Central European Summer Time) timezone
    • But if you’re not European? No problem! Not only do I have good experiences with people from all over, I’m going to be that guy who is around on the latest of nights and earliest of mornings when the THIRD partner is not! Think of the possibilities!

  • OOC talker!
    • Like talking OOC? Good! me too, I’ll be asking you about your pet’s middle name, which may sound stupid! but that’s because it is. I’m still gonna ask. That said I will take a hint to shush on the OOC if needed.

  • 33M maturity
    • Emotionally stable and able to differentiate RP and OOC. I’m difficult to anger and patient with responses and times should stuff come up
  • Flexible & Agile, in writing length and style
    • My current average is 200-300 words, I’ll be quite flexible especially in light of the delicious challenges of three-person RPs that face us! Who knows, will it require a paragraph or six? Time will tell, but I will improvise, adapt and overcome as needed!
  • Story & Character focus!
    • To me, the story is the soul of a roleplay. Expect heavy focus on story, characters and plot. Especially since we’re gonna be three!
  • Open minded about setting
    • Execution matters, setting itself does not. Well, to me anyway. Which makes it much easier to coordinate between three people, especially if extra considerations need to be made for a three-person RP!

About you

  • Be 21+
    • Honestly just a comfort thing, I'm up there age wise, man.

  • No fandoms
    • I vastly prefer the freedom of OCs. We can talk about nicking the universe/setting of a fandom in a pinch though, but don’t expect miracles if I don’t know the source material. I won’t be of any use as a CC though.
  • Discord only
    • I fear I’ll forget to check for replies if it’s not on there, and you don’t deserve that! Also I like the organization of Discord for RPs, something I’d think will be especially handy for 3 person RPs.

Inspiration (Non essential reading)

  1. Through the power of mysterious and terrible bureaucracy, your solo quest has been accepted by two other people as well. Unfortunately, quests can’t be canceled as reputation must be maintained. And even more unfortunately? The two who show up are your direct rivals. But the quest is not as simple as initially thought and reluctantly teaming up is going to be essential to survive what awaits! (Variations include them being blackmailed to do something. The thing could be illegal or very dangerous. Could be friends or strangers)
  2. Through the power of a curse/Magic/an accident three people have been linked with a magic and invisible force. Moving too far away from each other drags them along. They need to figure out how to untie the bond and perhaps why it was inflicted on them in the first place
  3. Desperate times call for desperate measures as princes and/or princesses need to get married for an alliance. Through sheer necessity the prince/princess is to be wed to not one other, but two. (Variations include: accidental mess up causing it, neither of the three knows of it before it happens.)
  4. The Kingdom had fallen. Evil has won. Three knights (Gender neutral use of knights) are still standing. And they're out for blood and vengeance.
  5. All three witnessed or did something they shouldn't have, and now they have to keep an eye on each other or one crack in their facade could lead to disaster
  6. The ship is headed to a specific place, but along the way disaster has struck. Now they are only three left and yet they have to press on to reach their destination and perform their duty no matter how bleak it now looks
  7. Three people arbitrarily switch bodies (at random? Once?). They need to manage the fallout all while trying their best to figure out how and why this happens
