BlackRep no longer asks for your ID — you were right, we changed it

I posted about BlackRep and the comments were basically unanimous: the idea is fine, the ID upload is not. "Sketchy as fuck." "Great right up to the ID part, I'm out." "Site is DOA unless that changes."

Fair. It's changed.

You can now register without uploading anything. No ID, no document, no waiting for a human to look at your passport. Sign up, and you have the whole site — browsing, swiping, matching, messaging, all of it. Same for the video side.

What verification is now: an optional badge. If you choose to send an ID, you get a small ✓ next to your name everywhere on the site. That is the entire difference. It is not a permission, it's a signal — it tells whoever is looking at your profile that someone checked you're real. Plenty of people won't do it, and they get exactly the same site.

A few of you asked what happens to the document if you do send one. It gets deleted the moment it's approved. A human looks at it once, checks it matches what you typed, and the file is destroyed — all that's kept is a fingerprint, which is enough to spot the same document being used to verify two accounts and useless for anything else. Before that one viewing it sits in private storage, never a public link, never shown on your profile or to another member, and every time it's opened that gets logged. When it's approved your name, date of birth and location get frozen so the badge can't be gamed afterwards. And you can skip all of this at signup and decide later, once you've had a look around.

Also fixed, from the last thread: if your ID upload failed during signup, the account was already created and you couldn't start over — a couple of you hit that and gave up. That's fixed, uploads can't strand you any more, and the "file too large" error now actually tells you the limit and your file's size.

Still true, so you know before you sign up: 18+ only, date of birth is required and under-18s are refused. It's invite-only while it's in beta.

Codes: black men and white men → BLACK2026. White women → SNOWBUNNY2026. Register at blackrep.app/dating — that's the path that sets your account up properly, and the same login works at videos.blackrep.app afterwards.

There's a 🐛 button in the corner of every page. It goes straight to me with a screenshot. Use it — the last thread found two real bugs and I'd rather hear about the next one from you than not at all.

BlackRep is almost ready — invite codes for early testers (18+)

BlackRep is an invite-only interracial platform — a video site and a dating side, one account for both. It's been in the works for a while and it goes public in the coming months.
Before that, it needs real people using it. I can click through my own site all day and I'll never find what you'll find in ten minutes.
Invite codes
Black men and white men: BLACK2026
White women: SNOWBUNNY2026
The codes are role-locked, so use the right one — the wrong one gets refused at signup.
Register at blackrep.app/dating. That's the path that sets up your account properly; once you're in, the same login works at videos.blackrep.app.
What you're getting into
Videos: a full catalogue, ratings, comments, playlists, subscriptions, watch history, categories, trending. Creators can upload and manage their own material. There's an optional on-device censoring mode if that's your thing — it runs in your browser, nothing leaves your device.
Dating: swiping, matches, chat, notifications.
What I want in return
There's a 🐛 button in the corner of every page. Use it. Something loads wrong, a button does nothing, text overlaps, a video won't play, a page looks broken on your phone — press it, say what happened, attach a screenshot if you can. It takes fifteen seconds and it goes straight to me.
That's the whole deal: you get in before anyone else, I get told what's broken. I can see who has reported and who hasn't, and early access will be pulled from accounts that only take the first half of that. Not a threat — just what the seats are for.
A few honest heads-ups
18+ only. Signup asks for a photo and a photo ID. An admin (me) reviews the ID by hand before the dating side unlocks — the video side works right away, so you can start looking around immediately.
Approval isn't instant. Give it a bit.
It's a beta. Expect rough edges — that's the point.
200 seats per code.
If something's missing that you'd expect, tell me that too.

Why the dating side asks for ID and the video side doesn't

Different risks. On the video side you watch things. Nobody can contact you, nobody learns anything about you, and the only thing that matters is that you're over 18 — your date of birth covers that and you're in straight away, no document, no waiting.

The dating side puts you in a private conversation with a real person, who might end up meeting you. That only works if everyone is who they say they are. The ID check is what keeps out fake profiles, men signing up as women, people harvesting photos, and anyone underage. It's the least fun part of signing up, and it's the reason the women here are actually women.

What happens to the document: it goes into private storage, never a public URL and never the CDN, it's never shown on your profile or to another member, and admin is the only person who can open it. It exists to approve you once and then gets deleted. Tinder also asks for your id to make the platform safer.
