Demographic: age and 1st usage

Just wanna know about y'all. Your age, and how long you've been using and how were you introduced.

I'm 36m, I dabble here and there mostly on weekends, lack of connect. I'm functioning, holding down a job with family responsibilities. I was going through a rough patch in my 20s, and got a bottle of morphine. That how it started for me, I remember it provided me with a sense of calm and good rest.

Opiates has help me in some ways but also became a crutch. I love to hear your story and thoughts.

Can you spot a functional user?

It's estimated that 2.4 % of U.S. population has tried heroin. It's easy to spot a junky in homeless area being on smack, probably fentanyl since it is more widely available. Functional user are more discreet. Some signs are the user wears long sleeves even in hot weather, they are often skinny, sometimes has the sniffles.

I being a functional user of H, you can't really tell I'm a user as I don't use needles and take care of myself. I hardly bring up the subject unless I know you participate. I want to find like minded people, but to openly bring up the subject is a challenge for me.

Hi, I'm a weekday working fella and a weekend warrior. In the past, I've cold approached people in my small city, roughly 6 times. 2 of those encounters was positive and the rest negative and got scammed.

It was summer noon, I approach a lightweight dark fella wearing long sleeve shirt. He got me a deal, we talked for a bit, he was a user. Never logged contact or saw him again.

All the negative encounters were with meth heads or crack heads claiming they can get it. Of course they scammed and never return.

Another decent encounter was with older man fella, himself not a user just a pusher. He was middle and his connect reliable and on time. Anyways, the middle man shorted me one day, only to find out 2 weeks later down the road. Yet I continue to meetup and eventually was betrayed when I handed over a bigger amount of cash for bigger quantity. Being shorted the first is a sign and I pretend to ignore the red flag.

There's are a lot sharks and dishonest people surrounding, don't be a fool like me. What's your story good or bad, I'd like to hear.
