I came here 19 months ago. I did speed dating, i did out loud volleyball, i went to a ton of bars, i went to social mixers. I’ve done timeleft, mingleo, and outclose. Ive gone to hot dog Sunday, ive gone to raves. I’ve made one or two good gay friends.
I’ve encountered a fuck ton of flakiness, avoidance, mixed signals, and ignorance. I got sober this past year and have learned so much about myself. I’m attractive, go to therapy, exercise, meditate, etc. i know love has its own time but HOLY FUCK why is meeting people here and converting so impossible. Anytime i go to a gay bar or a club Its just people and their friends talking to each other. If im out im out to have a good time and meet new people. Seems that’s the opposite of people here.

Do people here want a relationship? Like where’s the passion and “yes I’m picking you up” or “ can’t wait to see you I’ll get on the phone to chat”. Where’s the initiative?

I’ve been told a lot of the people id like probably already have their groups, their “rosters”, etc and don’t want any new people.

I know la is spread out, is everyone just miserable here? Just seems completely antithesis of how i grew up in the east coast.
