Testing a prototype hands-free mount — looking for stability and setup feedback

I’m testing a prototype hands-free mount system designed for interactive VR and device-supported use.

The main goal is to solve a few common setup problems: mount wobble, device rotation, sleeve alignment drifting, limited chair/desk positioning, and slow re-lube or adjustment during use.

This is not a finished retail product yet. It is currently in the prototype / pilot testing stage, and I’m looking for real feedback from people who have tried desk clamps, magic arms, vise setups, belt mounts, or other DIY hands-free solutions.

The feedback I’m most interested in:

  1. Does this body/base-supported design look more stable than a desk clamp or long magic arm?

  2. Would upper support help reduce rocking during use?

  3. Is quick removal for re-lube / cleaning important?

  4. What setup position matters most: seated, lying down, standing, or adjustable?

  5. What would make this design uncomfortable, unsafe, or annoying in real use?

Follow-up: what would make a hands-free Handy mount actually worth using?

I got useful feedback from the last thread, especially that simple SmallRig arms already work well for some desk/chair setups.

So I am trying to narrow down what would actually make a dedicated mount worth using.

The problems I am focusing on now are:

  • toy/sleeve rotating or sliding inside the strap
  • sleeve entrance drifting during insertion
  • quick release for re-lube
  • lube dripping toward the device
  • bed/chair use where a desk clamp is not convenient
  • keeping the stroke path aligned instead of just holding the Handy

For people who already use SmallRig, Stanley vise, Backboner, or other DIY setups: what would make you switch, if anything?

Looking for feedback on a hands-free mount prototype for The Handy

I am working on a small hands-free mount prototype for The Handy and similar devices.

This is not a sales post. I am trying to get technical feedback from users who have actually tried hands-free setups.

The main things I am testing are:

- torque and twisting resistance

- wobble compared with long arm setups

- sleeve alignment and guide position

- slipping at the base/body contact points

- comfort and setup time

The prototype uses a shorter braced structure, strap routing, TPU/rubber contact areas, and an adjustable guide position.

If you have used a magic arm, vise, 3D printed adapter, Solace/Hands3-style mount, or other setup: what failed first for you: arm flex, clamp slip, sleeve alignment, body movement, or comfort?

If this type of prototype-feedback post is outside the rules, I am happy to remove it.
