Will a bad smell bind to latex?
I recently made the dumb decision of moving into a new apartment without touring first, and there is a lingering cigarette smell from a previous tenant (or perhaps neighbor?). While I track down the smell and try to eliminate it, I am a little worried about my rubber.
Specifically, I am worried about my latex absorbing the smell when it is exposed to the air during use. I normally keep all my rubber is air-tight ziploc bags when not in use, so I'm not afraid of it getting a smell while in storage. I have only worn a couple of my pieces so far and have not noticed a smell, but I think I'm starting to become nose blind to the cigarette smell. Will latex absorb the smell while I wear it, or while it is hanging up in my bathroom drying?
Does anyone have experience with this? Will my rubber smell like smoke? While the smell fade away after washing? I'm scared of ruining my collection forever with a smokey smell.
Also does anyone have tricks for combating cigarette smell? I don't smoke, but all my clothes smell like I do 😭
