So, the other day, I was going to get up to some mischief with my sex toys. I open my toy drawer, and lo and behold, one of my sex toys had completely melted, and onto most of my other sex toys in the drawer.
Here are some details, so that all bases are covered.
- I have never used silicone, or oil-based lubes on any of my toys. I have only ever used water-based lubes.
- Most of the toys were kept together, uncovered, stored right next to one another. They were kept in a hard plastic dresser drawer with black-tinted, semi-translucent drawers. The toy in question that had melted, however, was stored in the plastic case it had been bought in. The toy was a very soft, sticky, flexible material. It was advertised as being a silicone toy.
- My room’s temperature where the toys are stored is never above 70 degrees Fahrenheit, the toys themselves should always be in a cooler climate, though, as they’re stored in a dark drawer.
Here are the actions I took/will take after some research:
- I removed and discarded the melted toy
- I removed all of the other toys that had gotten the melted toy on them, cleaned them, and then put them in groups of like-toys. They are now being stored away from one another, aside from those in their group. The grouped toys are either from the same manufacturer, or seemed similar in their material composition.
- I thoroughly cleaned the dresser drawer itself, using warm water and paper towels.
- I will buy or create individual pouches to store each toy in, so that they don’t touch each other directly.

What I need to know, though, is.. Are my other toys that had gotten the melted toy on them safe? I’m able and willing to boil those that are compatible, but what about my electronic toys? At least 2 electronic toys were also affected, and those obviously can’t be boiled. I’ve been searching online for whether the melted toy is toxic if it melts or not. So far the information i’ve seen is very limited, and very split on opinion.
