Heyo,
I just wanted to give my first impressions of the Northshore MegaMax V2 12h and 6h.
I got some of these diapers in recently after hearing that the orders and subscriptions are transitioning to them US version. Figured I’d give them a shot and see if they change my diapering routine at all. For reference, I wet and mess and wear everyday, though not all day everyday, typically a bit over half the day.
So here we go.
6hr MegaMax V2:
- This diaper immediately feels lighter weight than standard MegaMax, obviously. Knowing it’s a “light”, I wouldn’t and you shouldn’t expect any different. The material is soft, and hasn’t really had any more friction than I’m used to on the import version.
The material is obviously different. It kind of feels like the thin, disposable table cloth you might get at an upscale outdoor event. Not necessarily bad or cheap, but it’s certainly slightly less thick feeling, and more of pliable material when you’re moving. I think the v2 diaper is either comparable in terms of noise, if not slightly crinklier in the landing zone specifically.
Tapes and landing zone feel good. First removal after wearing and for 5 hours tore the plastic. Makes sense, body heat makes the adhesive bond more firmly. Definitely do your adjustments before the diaper has been on for a while.
- #1. I am generally a heavy wetter, and need to change more frequently for my comfort and hygiene preferences. This diaper swells quickly, and feels pretty full for me around hour 3-4, after two to three big wettings. Front and back feel good, but ymmv in terms of leaking from floods. Taking the diaper off and patting with toilet paper slightly dampens, but doesn’t soak the toilet paper, but hey, it’s a wet diaper a few hours and wettings in.
Probably not going to be my diaper for short term use, not because it’s bad, just not for me. If you have smaller more frequent wets, it may be right for you.
- #2. I mess at least once a day. In a perfect world, I would prefer a lighter garment to do so in. If I was messing multiple times a day, this would be a really great diaper to use (and what it’s designed for, but I don’t quite think that’s me.). I’m of the opinion that pooping in underwear and a diaper is a very similar sensation, just one is contained. The diaper is nothing groundbreaking here, other than the softness of the garment. Definitely felt like things weren’t pushed up against me as much, the diaper seemed to shape around my mess, rather than shape it.
In the times where I’ve wet a little and messed this diaper, it did really well. It felt like a MegaMax, and I felt less bad about trashing the diaper thinking I didn’t use it enough. The garment does release smell when it “gaps” from walking around or stretching.
12hr MegaMax V2:
This diaper feels similar in weight to an import MegaMax, although it is slightly lightly lighter, the material feels like the tablecloth I mentioned, and again, the diaper is more pliable.
The import MegaMax is rigid, the USV2 is structured, but not as rigid as the original import.
Landing zones are good and adjustable when you put the diaper on, but again, a warm body will bond the glue, and the diaper will tear with anything other than a very careful and slow, pull and place. This diaper is slightly crinklier in the landing zone area, probably because the plastic backing is softer and more flexible than the import.
- #1. This diaper is a true to MegaMax form, and it certainly swells like one. It handles multiple wets and floods without issue, front and back. The key difference, is the core and sap. Again, these parts aren’t as “tight” as the import, and the diaper feels like it loses structure when moderately wet. It doesn’t sag, per se, but you can certainly feel that the core is more squishy and unstructured than the import. It feels a little, soupy after a while. Not saying the import doesn’t as well, just saying that it feels like it happens a little sooner in the V2
- #2. I don’t think that any of the diapers I wear are particularly ground breaking things to poop in, lol.
This diaper holds messes, and does it well. I noticed that it seems to let the mess shape it rather than shaping the mess, but again I think it’s because of the more pliable backing. The diaper lets smell out when the garment “gaps” from moving around, but that’s to be expected.
- Both diapers.
Both use the different material, and both feel like slightly “lighter” versions of their counterparts.
Be careful when fluffing these. As the core is very compliant, and may feel broken up after a standard fluff. Tapes should be used and adjusted before the diaper is warm. Doing so after wearing will probably tear the diaper.
After a a quick review, I don’t think the V2 is a bad diaper at all, but it is a different diaper. If you’re looking for something that’s gonna swell real big and contain what you throw at it, it’s gonna be a lot of fun. If you’re a longtime MegaMax user or pragmatic diaper user like me, you’ll notice the little things. To me, this is the less firm structure, the more compliant material, the soupier feeling when wet, and the core being more compliant.
I’ll update this the further the longer I am in these diapers ☺️
Happy diapering!
