I’ve been thinking about ways to make Grok Imagine even better. A lot of people love the quality and speed, but the current moderation sometimes feels a bit too strict for personal or creative use. Here’s an idea that could help:

A dedicated Private Mode where:

- Your generations stay completely private by default

- You get simple toggles to control what (if anything) gets shared publicly

- It gives users more flexibility while still keeping strong protections in place

And longer term, a local/on-device mode where everything runs on your own phone or computer, no server queues and full personal control.

This seems like it would fit really well with Grok’s philosophy of maximum freedom and minimal unnecessary restrictions. Obviously anything illegal would still be blocked, but it would let people experiment more freely in private and only share what they’re comfortable with.

What do you think? Would extra privacy and control options be useful to you? What kind of settings would you want most?

I’ve been following the frustration around Grok Imagine moderation lately and it got me thinking.

Right now it feels like Grok is trying to be everything to everyone, super open in theory, but the moderation filters are still pretty heavy in practice. A lot of people (myself included) just want more control instead of blanket restrictions.

Here’s an idea:

A proper Private Mode where:

• Everything you generate is fully uncensored by default (no more random blocks on weird, artistic, or explicit stuff)

• It stays 100% private unless you actively choose to share it

• You get simple toggles so you can decide what’s allowed to go public (like “lock all explicit content” or per-image controls)

And then the next step — local/on-device mode — where the whole thing runs on your phone or computer. No central server, no queues, no xAI moderation at all. Just you and the model.

This would actually line up pretty well with Elon and Grok’s whole mantra of maximum freedom and minimal censorship. Obviously real illegal stuff like CSAM would still need to be blocked, but everything else in private would be fair game. You could finally generate whatever weird, personal, or boundary-pushing ideas you want without frustration, then only share the things you actually feel good about putting out there.

Curious what you all think:

• Would you actually use a fully private uncensored mode?

• What kind of toggles would matter most to you?

• Any concerns about speed (local mode will probably be slower on some devices) or how this could get abused?
